All - I have a friend who is asking for some help pricing his Jeep Gladiator 2020 Launch Edition. I am not sure what to tell him because he put a lot of custom-work done to it. Would anyone mind giving me an honest assessment on whether he has it listed at a reasonable price? It's listed here - https://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/listing/2020/jeep/gladiator/2269744

Mike, are you selling it for him?

I know there are guys on here with Launch Editions (LE) and a lot of JT owners who have similar modifications. I'll yield to them on whether $80K is reasonable for a 15K mile modded LE JT.

From what I've read, the LE resale hasn't brought extra coin (yet) simply because 2020 JTs are still on the lots and any historical aspect hasn't kicked in. But with duPont Registry, it only takes that one guy to see the ad and jump on it. Good luck with the sale...it's certainly a nice JT  :)

In Atlanta, might find someone with money that would spend that. However, a lot of Jeepers are particular on the mods they want on their build and do not want a built up one. I could see getting $50-60k for it. Only reason I say this is My gladiator is almost the exact same truck option wise minus the cargo management package and I got it with 120 miles and the extended warranty for $52k. So a private sale without the warranty on a first gen truck known to have issues may not be appealing to a large population. I have also lost the money in mods I put into previous Jeeps so my mentality is expect to not recoup mod money. Better off parting out what can be parted out and trying to get blue book. Again, just my opinion.

Thanks for the advice - very helpful. I'm acting as a go-between for him as a favor - not making any money off it - just trying to help him get it sold. My son also put together the video on it to help him out - . The owner is ramping up another business and is needing the cash.

That makes sense. I think that he was modding it for someone else and then they backed out at the last minute. From what I understand - he is basically just trying to get cost out of it. Appreciate your thoughts.

Lol. Good catch
Nope - not selling it for him. Just acting as the go between to help him out. Selling is not his cup of tea - he just loves working on Jeeps - and I don't mind giving him a hand. And, like I said, I'm not a Jeep expert so I thought I would go to the guys who can give me an honest and accurate perspective. Which you have - really appreciate it.

Thanks! I guess 5 pages of responses was not enough...
Sorry for the redundancy. Yes - I asked the same question earlier in the summer and your comments back then did help. I think that is why my friend decided to drop the price to $80K based on your feedback. But I'm wondering if that is even too high. Again - not the Jeep expert. I think Whitarmy nailed it on the head when they said Jeep owners like to make their own mods. So I think the better question is:

Do Jeep Owners prefer to do their own mods - or pay someone to customize it?

Those looking for an already modded Jeep want to get a bargain and will settle for the taste of what the previous owner did to the vehicle. I hope he gets top dollar for it, but that is a tough pill to swallow, even for an LE.

Good Luck

Several things at play here. duPont Registry attracts a different clientele than us normal Jeep owners. I've sold vehicles on duPont and there is a different type of exposure (and expectations).

There's a kinda well-known wealthy guy here in SoCal (he may be on this board, so I'll keep him anonymous) that has a Jeep collection and buys modified Jeeps. I know several wealthy men and women that will leave the modding to the professionals and buy one fully modded. The Gladiator prices on duPont reflect that (up to $225K for a Hennessey).

In looking through duPont, the biggest challenge you have is the 15K mileage. In searching through the Gladiators, the closest mileage to yours is 4,050. Otherwise, they're mostly new or close to it. This (click here) is an example of your competition...very similar build, only 2000 miles, $79,995.

I like the angle of Launch Edition exclusivity, that's probably your best play to stand out in that crowd, but you're going to have to be patient to find the right buyer with that kind of mileage. Especially with COVID-19 and people driving less, that's a lot of mileage for a 2020 (people see "2020" regardless of when you bought it). Plus, I'd have to say that selling a used vehicle privately during a global pandemic has got to be a very challenging task.

To me the money spent on add ons balances the fact it's used with 15,000 miles, and lost around 12-14 months of the factory warranty.

My opinion and four others I've shown is.... that it is about a $60,000 or less, used Gladiator. We agree, any more and most shoppers will just buy a new one and build their own.

We've all heard the saying " you never get out of it what you put into it."
