I'm still not sure the bed that is on it is correct... But I would think the ones with the spare under the bed are at least close. If this is the case... It's got a big-ol' bootie and will have some departure issues. I'd almost prefer the spare stand vertical in the bed. Many will need relocated there due to size upgrades anyway.
Leave that to aftermarket. I'll take mine under the bed from the factory please.

Agreed. Finally having a bed and then immediately filling it with the spare tire seems a little silly. Normal Wrangler style tire carrier from the aftermarket for me.

Ha! well there you go! While I don't agree... it seems Jeep may have made the better call for the spare under the bed even though it made the butt a little large. :)

i was thinking about that, as an undermount is out of the way pulling it down in cold + or wet snow is NOT a thing of joy!! i did a dry run of my colorado undermount a real PITA + thats in my dry comfortable garage + while it was down i lubed everything + checked the air!! checked the brotherinlaws spare in his 99 ranger when i did an oil change for him 7LB!!!!! in it. that power wagon is similar to one i rode in while doing some brush fire fighting, its full time 4WD went up a mountain where only sky showed at the crest, some of my buddies jumped off when the front wheels temporarily lifted!!!!!

I would like it under bed as like others have said I dont want to waste bed space, nor do I want an inset for the side mount tire. However with that said I wouldn't be surprised to see MOPAR offer some alternative mounting options.

the outside sidemounted spare looks at home on the bigger powerwagon, not so much on a smaller jeep. tire changes being rare these days you will hopefully not have to deal with it, especially in 15 F + everything frozen under the bed after years of slop hitting it or said cold icy temps or rain slop, murphy may strike when your nicely dressed going somewhere important!! shit happens!!!!

This is exactly why I carry a kit with mud boots, gloves and plastic rain suit in my Jeep.
