I recall being "impatient" back in 1984. I ordered my 2nd brand new car. 2 months passed and the dealer was even getting impatient and called trying to talk me into a similar one off the lot. No, we wanted that color, those options, that car.
I ordered a then new 1988 Dodge Dakota. The dealership basically told me after placing the order., "Do not call us, we will call you". They kind of got miffed when I called about it after 90 days. Took a little over 5 months to get it.

I try to think about this and can't see you being impatient or getting "excited" about much of anything (other than maybe if your parachute fails to deploy, then I see you thinking through things logically)

5 months if I remember correctly is a fair amount of time for back then.

To say the least, the cat was cold
He said, "Don't call us, child, we'll call you"
I said, "You got my number?"
He said, "Yeah, I got it when you walked in the door"
Don't call us, we'll call you

Koons has been good trying to help but bottom line is, they can only do so much.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but what Koons "can do" is absolutely nothing. I've met Craig multiple times and really like him. He has a hard job. I get the desire to say "yeah we're doing everything we can to move this along for you" and try and make you happy but ultimately he's telling a well-intentioned lie.

Then when your Jeep happens to be in the slowest 1% of orders it creates the anger seen up-thread because now things are framed as a hero (dealer trying to help) vs villain (manufacturer not listening to the dealer) where it seems like the manufacturer must be almost purposefully hostile to not listen to the dealer's pleas.

The real story, and the story I hope future people in this situation internalize, is that to the extent there is any real villain here it's "modernity" via previously unavailable levels of customization and previously unfathomable levels of consumer knowledge, but with Rube Goldberg machine supply chains set amongst Kafkaesque levels of bureaucracy. To be angry at that, not disappointed but angry, is to be angry at modern life itself.

Was informed late yesterday afternoon that my truck arrived at the dealership.

Have an appointment on Tuesday to pick it up!
That's what I'm talking about. Dealership thinks you are so excited you will drive into the night to get there...but no, you play it cool and tell them I'll come when its convenient for me. Make them sweat. Just kidding, congratulations and let us see some pics on Tuesday.

When I ordered my 2020 and it was delivered in November 2019, the sales guy texted me a picture of it just off the truck, sitting in front of the shop ready to go in at 7am that morning before they even opened. I did pick it up that evening, however, they about freaked out when I told them I had sold my Silverado outright to another dealer for about 2500 more than they were going to allow in trade, and, that I'd found another Gladiator for about 3K less at another Iowa dealer (albeit 4 hours drive away) and they needed to knock another grand off the price. Man, panic, you could feel it. Sales guy went and grabbed the manager (they chatted for a couple minutes up in that office) and they both came out and the manager said "so, you walk if we don't do this"? and I said yeah (my wife was also freaking - what are you doing sort of a look at me). They agreed.
That and the fact the 23 Wrangler 4xe we bought from them had been a special order and a no-show on picking it up, you could tell there must be some penalty for not delivering something that was ordered. But the Wrangler, being reign, and people almost fighting over that color, they'd have had zero issues selling it. They had an employee and customer both trying for another reign Wrangler they had in and the manager stepped in and told the employee - customers always win in that battle, let it go.

But seriously, in this case - why penalize the dealer or why "make them sweat"????
That's blaming the doctor because YOU broke your leg. They had zero to do with how long things took and it's punishing the wrong person and being spiteful. That's just wrong, IMO.
Don't blame the messenger, as it goes. They ordered it and that's all they could do. To even think of punishing a dealer for how things went after it was 150% out of their hands is wrong.
Me - I threatened over something in their full control - $$

Easy Big Poppy - in my post I said "just kidding", no need for a full page dissertation on who to blame. It's all fun and games until he goes and picks it up next week and reports back everything is copacetic. Until then we all can just hope it makes it to the lot on time and without issues.

Also the most infuriating part is knowing that Jeep built at least 42 post recall 6MT JTs for inventory orders in the beginning of July. If sold orders were really a priority our trucks ordered 2/1 would have been built at that time.
I'm with @tarndesigns in that we ordered at the same time and have had nothing but a horrid experience of being told 'its coming" and its been one event after another. Its been over 11 months and 10 of that being told, "its been prioritized" just makes you feel like it was prioritized to be last, not first.
Might as well get a 2024 at this point and have some upgraded features since you have already been waiting.

Gee, I wonder where that came from - (A week ago LOL)

To say the least, the cat was cold
He said, "Don't call us, child, we'll call you"
I said, "You got my number?"
He said, "Yeah, I got it when you walked in the door"
Don't call us, we'll call you
