Put JL Tazer on 23 Gladiator. Primarily bought to disable the autopark feature but found there were a few other things it does that are useful. Change tire size, turn on rear camera when blinkers. Other than those features I don’t use anything else

BUT the Tazer introduces a lot of electrical bugs. It causes my link between iPhone and radio to disconnect randomly. Bluetooth or wired. When I shut off truck the radio volume increases.if the radio was not on it will turn on if I shut truck off. Radio stays on for 10-15 seconds after I get out of truck. Sometimes radio will turn on randomly when I get in truck and have not yet started it.
there is about have dozen other little things I noticed too. I unmarried Tazer and kept it off for a few months and problems went away. Recently I installed it back on after making sure I updated firmware and my problems all came back. However, I have yet to experience iPhone disconnect but have really not driven it for longer trips where I used to have disconnect issues.

has anyone expierenced same or similar issues? Is there a better option to disable autopark, adjust tire size and more that doesn’t introduce new issues?
All you have to do (I have done this and it works perfectly) is change your fixed vehicle settings like tire size, tpms alerts, gearing, etc, then just remove it. Leave it married. You’ll retain the fixed settings without the gremlins. Just plug it back in when you want to make a change.

what I find interesting is the number of people who say that have a tazer for gear changes and tire size. Really? You got talked into the "you MUST have a tazer" thing.
For live features, yeah, you are very limited and tazer is obviously the way you must go, but for those simple settings things there's a lot cheaper and easier ways - plus the other ways can get you into diagnostics, reports, logs and other things.

If all a person wants to do is change gear ratio, tire size (not like you do that daily!) or even turn off license plate lights in reverse - save your money, use software for the first two and a relay for the license plate lamp thing.
I can use AlfaOBD on any FCA vehicle - any of our Jeeps, not locked into a VIN. I also don't need to worry about "will it interfere with a dealer visit and do I need to remove it" because once you set those things, you leave the room, leaving no fingerprints or device.

Again, for tazer, there's a list of live things you just can't do with anything else.

if you only need to change settings, you don't need tazer.
If you want live functions, you need tazer

Settings are not live functions - settings include gear ratio, tire size, TPMS settings, LED vs halogen lighting and so on.

I couldn’t agree more. At the time several years ago, I didn’t know about the other options. I wouldn’t buy a tazer today. But I have it, and don’t leave it plugged in.

Turning off things like Autopark and ESS requires that the Tazer stay plugged in, correct?

Yes, it remembers the last dash button push for ESS on or off, and keeps the computer updated as to what you want. It has to stay plugged in for that to work.

I have read conflicting reports on whether or not it can actually disable AutoPark.

I watched the guy from Quadratec do the Flashcal 2 plus I really like the Bluetooth dongle and the fact that your phone has the app on it and it is totally user friendly from the phone. I think thats what I'm going with . Think like 175.00 right now. Did all the same stuff as tazer maybe a few more.

Not only the ESS but I can't wait to turn off or lower the pressure warning for the TPMS(I despise TPMS) ?

Did everyone with issues update their tazer before installing?? Asking because I have helped a couple people now that went from box to Jeep…. Their tazers were super dated for what version was loaded- post update issues were gone….

I've experienced them, but they aren't all the Tazer. I bought a new USB-C cord for my Pixel and the disconnect problems disappeared.

My issue with the Tazer is battery drain. You are supposed to disable the on the go feature for navigation to stop that, but mine is draining batteries after a couple days without having that feature enabled.

But it doesn't always do it. I'm driving my JL for the first time in a week tomorrow, and we'll see if the battery is drained.

The Tazer is essentially a computer hacker that you install in your vehicle. It taps into the buss and fights with the computers for control over items. That is how it provides the 'live' features. The fighting will have some side effects. If you don't need the 'live' features, Jscan and AlfaOBD provide all the same programming functions for tire size and all the other settings.
Agree with this statement,

The more I think of it the less I find the tazer worth $300+. Only thing I really needed was the tire size which can be done for cheap. Most of the live features don’t work or not well and are hacks where the tazer is fighting against the computer to force enable stuff. In software engineering we call those situation racy. Imagine two people at two different place in a room trying to switch the light ON on one part and OFF on the other one. The fastest to enable/disable takes it. That can be seen everywhere:
- forward cam enabled above speed limit x: icon is flickering as the computer trying to shut it down while tazer is trying to keep it up. Super distracting
- sway bar disconnect above 18mph doesn’t work all the time for the same reason and you can see it on the dash where the computer throw a warning that it is not able to re lock the sway bar as tazer “unlocked it faster” than it was able to lock it
- engine cooling feature has cycles of 20-30s instead of continus. Same thing, tazer is asking fan 100% computer says no, tazer says yes etc

Some features are plain useless in their current form: for example dark mode only work under 5mph. Discussed that with them somehow they’re afraid of the legality of this but fine with breaking the law everywhere else (headlight stays on when high beam activated, product needed reverse engineering of protected Stellantis IP and bypassing security module, etc etc).

Some other just don’t work, I can’t disable my sway bar in 2WD even with the shortcut. Only work in 4, and at a complete stop when button needs to be pressed.

All in all it does transform your CAN bus in a constant shit show for a few gimmicks.

A few features I values though:
- hood alarm, potentially doable with other products, need to figure that out
- tire size & trans settings, definitely doable with other products
- QoL like disabling rear plate light while backup is good too.

YMMV, this is just an opinion as a software & hw engineer. Though, it kinda did slide into what could be perceived as a rant ? let’s call it a collection of thoughts I’ll be able to link back to when someone asks me what I think of it.

Taser in both my JL and JT, no problems and does everything I need. As far as battery drain make sure full reboot is done everytime a change is made. Taser saved my vacation while traveling allowing me to clear codes on side of I-30 when I got an exhaust system code and put me in limp mode. Yes. I could have cleared with a scanner but don't carry one normally.
