A couple more pictures showing some clearances to the mirror and door, and visibility from my seating position. I'm 5' 11". Don't mind the salt.

I ordered a Sy-Klone 9001R as well to test it out. Will report

I wonder if the snorkel will help with my derating issue during the August heat while towing my boat? Will it get any cooler air up there? Will that make a difference? Probably not, I know, but I can hope, right?
No. your turbo is what heats up the air which is after the intake. You can drop intake temps 20 degrees they will still be well over 150 when it goes into the engine. I have tested extensively and air intake temp does nothing.

It will help at a stop in hot traffic to help lower IAT a bit. I notice a spike with my "hot air" intake under the hood. After the hood vent its negligble.

Drove 44 miles today and threw an engine code, P04DB for crankcase ventilation system disconnected. It is not. I just changed my oil a couple days ago and believe I overfilled it a bit as well. So I drained some oil out and reset the code. Between that and the fact I just had everything disconnected under the hood, I think it'll take care of itself. If it comes back, my guess is it may be a learned attribute and the sudden addition of the snorkel has thrown a flag. In which case, I should be able to just reset the PCM. The way the code works, as I understand it, is it measures the pressure difference between the intake and the crankcase. So it makes no sense to me to be anything of any significance. We'll see.

@BlueScapegoat do you think you can make some clearance photos near the driver cowl where people usually install turn signals, light mounts for ditch lights etc?
I’d really like to install something like that
https://www.bamwholesaleparts.com/o...-off-road-lower-a-pillar-oem-mopar-82215427ab

Looks like it’ll fit , but if you have a minute..

Thanks!
Boy that's tricky but it looks to me like it would work. There's a wider squared off spot on the snorkel, for whatever reason, just between those two screws on the cowl. The snorkel is then recessed in front of those screws, steps inward (away from the cowl) just above the screws, then tapers outward. If any of that makes sense.

Between the screws I could just snugly slip in a piece of cardboard, by my best estimate with the cardboard and some calipers that gap is a smidge over 1/8th inch. I think AEV has a close working relationship with Mopar, I'm wondering if the spacing and tapering of the snorkel is specifically intended to work with those brackets? I'd contact AEV and inquire. A fellow named Matt with AEV seems very responsive on the AEV Worldwide Facebook group.

Even if they made contact, the snorkel is very rigid, I think it would only serve to better brace the snorkel. Put a thin strip of rubber between them.

I'm just going to upload each of the pictures I took, hopefully they can kind of paint the picture. The windshield is to the top of all these photos

How difficult is it to remove the snorkel once installed?

There are a few products - mainly ones like those ditch light brackets and ARS racks that require access to the corner cowl. The snorkel looks like it covers the two lower bolts securing that corner cowl.

Thanks!

You'd need to remove the top of the filter box and move it out of the way. Then there are 3 screws along the top of the fender and 2 at the A pillar that need to be removed and it all lifts off, snorkel and filter box as one piece. Pretty easy.

No wind noise directly from the snorkel itself that I noticed, but there did seem to be a new ticking/clicky sort of wind noise coming from behind me at highway speed, maybe at the upper rear corner of the hard top. I also have a half rack on the back and tonneau cover.

::edit:: After 75 miles on the highway yesterday that sound either went away, or I'm already used to it now. I don't notice any wind noise, at least not enough to hear over the tire noise and other already present wind noise. You can definitely hear that turbo breathing, though.

I don't want this thread to just become me screwing around with the snorkel and intake combos, but my CCV CEL came back after clearing everything and ensuring it was all connected up properly. I did discover that I was missing a piece with the AFE intake I had overlooked during installation because it was missing from the packaging and I chalked it up to outdated instructions. So while I'm waiting to hear from AFE I temporarily swapped back to the factory intake. I've got a 600 mile drive coming up this week and I want to be absolutely sure that the source of the code isn't the snorkel itself before I go on with swapping the AFE intake back on and ultimately the 9001R prefilter.

As an update, I've driven several hundred miles now and the snorkel is most likely the source of the code. Although it seems rare, it isn't an isolated incident. I'm not an AEV rep so I'm not going to say much more, but communication has happened and I'll be doing my own testing of different configurations. I'm confident I can achieve a code-free experience one way or another, and I'll share my results. As it is, actual vehicle driveability is unaffected.

Thank you. Do you know if they have issues reported with OEM airbox too?
It's not like we have a lot of choices anyway so finding a workaround/fix is probably the best course of action.
I reverted to OEM everything with the exception of the snorkel and it is still getting the code. As I said before, I am not an isolated instance.
