Picking up a new family vehicle tomorrow, 3rd row Nissan Armada, had a surprise kid a few years ago and the back seat of the wrangler is getting cramped. Nissan is nice, will tow the boat, and is 3rd row/seats 7.

So the question comes down to- Which Jeep do I keep??? Short term plan will continue to DD the remaining Jeep, but I'll eventually get a small commuter Car/Truck to drive into Atlanta every day and the Jeep will become a 100% trail/weekend with the top off vehicle.

2020 Wrangler Rubicon 2.0- Basically stock, 85K on the clock. I"ve got a 2" spacer lift in the garage pending install with new shocks.
2021 Gladiator S 3.6, 30K Miles, 5.13 gears, elocker in the front, L/S in the rear, 3.5" springs, APOC control arms, GMRS, bumper, winch, ect...

If I keep the wrangler, I'd move the MTs over to it, as well as most the transferable off road gear (GMRS, winch, ect...)
If I keep the Gladiator, it'd basically stay as-is for now, but would eventually get a chopped bed.
Since the Armada will tow the boat, I really don't "need" a truck anymore, wrangler will drive and already has a better wheelbase for the trails in the SE.

Only issue keeping the gladator (at the risk of offending some) is I want to easily taike the top off/on with the weather, I just really hate the look of the factory softtop. The Rampage/RR top is better, but IMO still doesn't look as good as the wrangler with the top off.

Keep the car with the second worst engine. Or buy a JT diesel.

Damn nice Jeeps! I have the same dilemma. I have a two door Rubicon and a Mojave. My wife has explained that I only have one butt. So, apparently one or both must go since a bought a new Jeep.

Sounds like you’re partial to the Wrangler. Do you haul things that will mess up the Armada? Does the mileage concern you? What’s the value of each and does that matter?

Good luck!

Sounds to me like the Wrangler is the better fit for your second vehicle wants and needs.

I’d keep the gladiator. You are lucky, my wife would tell me my ā€œbuttā€ has to go!šŸ™‚FYI, not sure if you’ve researched the resale value of the Armada but it is one of the worst. Good luck choosing.

I voted for the Gladiator but in my heart I say keep BOFF of them!!!!! You never know when you’ll need either one. And having a ā€œextraā€ vehicle does come in handy.

So I was sort of in a similar predicament. Had to move to an apartment so could not keep 2 jeeps. Had a 2011 Grand cherokee with hemi and 95,000 miles and a 2012 wrangler sahara with 140,000 miles. I ended up trading the wrangler for a 2024 Gladiator leftover and got a decent deal. I then sold the grand cherokee. I really really hated getting rid of the grand cherokee but didn't want to pay for a second parking space. The gladiator fills all the need I have for a vehicle so thats what you need to decide. Which one fills your needs. If you don't need a truck keep the wrangler. Also think about if the Nissan you are buying breaks down will the wrangler be able to tow what you need to tow until the nissan is back on the road?

If you’re going to chop the gladiator bed, you don’t value it as a truck. This is an easy one. Keep the JLU.

Get a good insurance policy that covers rentals and rent one of them out, or both and just alternate which is available when you get bored or need one vs the other. Passive income, fully covered, and you can keep both if you want.

I voted keep the wrangler as mentioned if you do not need it to tow or need the truck bed the Nissan will do the gladiator towing stuff and fit everyone and their gear without any problem but like a Gladiator it will not do Wrangler stuff like a wrangler.

I do use the Gladiator bed a good bit, but I also have a small 5x8 trailer that I can use. A slight inconvenience, but the wrangler + Trailer will do anything I'd put in the Gladiator bed- and the Armada will tow anything the gladiator towed. Jut can't do them both at the same time.

I’d keep the gladiator. You are lucky, my wife would tell me my ā€œbuttā€ has to go!šŸ™‚FYI, not sure if you’ve researched the resale value of the Armada but it is one of the worst. Good luck choosing.
I did, the Armada isn't new, it's a few years old, so the big resale hit I let someone else take that. It's not perfect, but was driven <10K/year and aside from a few nicks/scuffs is in really good shape.

So I was sort of in a similar predicament. Had to move to an apartment so could not keep 2 jeeps. Had a 2011 Grand cherokee with hemi and 95,000 miles and a 2012 wrangler sahara with 140,000 miles. The wrangler definitely wouldn't tow the boat, but I guess that's no different than where I was before the Armada, if the Gladiator goes down I'd be renting a truck from hertz or uhaul if I needed to move the boat. Vehicle being broken down would take any priority over time on the boat.

If you’re going to chop the gladiator bed, you don’t value it as a truck. This is an easy one. Keep the JLU.
I think the wrangler has the better factory wheelbase for the woods, but I would still be able to throw mud in the bed of the truck and spray it out when done, which I like. To do anything similar in the wrangler I'd be laying tarps down, and if it stinks, the whole Jeep smells..

I voted keep the wrangler as mentioned if you do not need it to tow or need the truck bed the Nissan will do the gladiator towing stuff and fit everyone and their gear without any problem but like a Gladiator it will not do Wrangler stuff like a wrangler.
No the Nissan won't replace the truck bed, but I can get close with the wrangler and my small utility trailer.

I do think the wrangler is probably the more "logical" choice and has less redundancy, but the truck has super low miles, a more simple engine, and more done to it. I don't really need to decide for a few weeks, have the kid's spring break coming up so can't do anything until after that anyways.
