I've got a 2018 JLUR (waiting for my 2020 Gladiator to get to the dealer), and neither key has this issue. The gap around my key fob is the same size all the way around the key.

What I think happened - and I'm just spitballing here - is they order these fob shells from a manufacturer in the many thousands of units at a time. There is likely a problem with the company providing the key fob shells right now - or at least for a few recent batches.

I imagine the dealers need to order replacement keys for all of you with issues. When my Gladiator comes in, I'm going to show the dealer my key fobs and ask them to open a claim with Jeep if my Gladiator's fobs don't close completely.
It's is literally every single fob. It is a manufacturer issue dealer won't be able to do anything

Traded in my 2014 JKU Rubicon for a Gladiator Rubicon. The size of the FOB's did surprise me, but I can live with it. What I found very weird was the gap on the battery cover. Have a look at my photo. Is that gap supposed to be there? Both my FOB's are like this. The dealer told me its to pop the cover off, but I don't buy it. They look put together incorrectly. I dont see how they can seal properly with the gap being there.

Mine looks the same way. Got a silicone cover so I wouldn't worry as much about water and the gap, it also help the switch blade key from popping out in my pocket.

You're right. I just picked up my Gladiator, same issue. My dealer said there is no fix in the pipe yet. I'll just keep bugging them on and off about it.

Hey Everybody! Long time listener, first time caller. Great show, love the topic. My fobs are the same. I work at a Jeep dealer in the parts department. I showed our Chrysler rep and emailed pictures of my fobs to him. A few weeks ago he called and said he sent everything to engineering and they are looking into it. Haven't heard back yet but if I do I will post up here.

mine looks the same...
dirt, dust and moisture will get in over time and cause corrosion.
My dealer told me, they're all the same... so they can be opened for service.

I agree, this sould snap fully closed... there's a notch to open it up
I have a dremmel and am interested in fixing this myself.

The AJT Designs fob is terrific. Not a ton smaller, but boy what a difference. More wieldy. Better made. Their online install videos make switching a snap. Highly recommend.

Mine is like that, I think they are all like that. I have not seen one that didn't have the gap.

Mine has a small gap, not as bad as the OP's picture. I got some of the silicone jackets to go over the FOB's. It covers that corner, and keeps the key from opening in my pocket.

@JeepCares is there a solution yet? My dealership was unable to help because they're all coming that way from FCA

So is there anyone whose fab doesn't have the gap?

And secondly, has anyone actually had an issue with their fob?

This seems like a mountain out of a molehill, tbh. Who cares?
