I sure hope there's not so much as a piece of lint from that rock, knowing what these crazy windshields cost. Even if you have insurance, claims aren't good either.
Did you examine it? Maybe it was a piece of sponge they left on their trailer after wiping the lawn equipment down? (Ok, a hard sponge)

Just get on your hood and place your hand in the center of the windshield. Then press with your body weight into it very solidly several times. Repeat this in several areas towards the center of the glass. If there are any cracks to be had, this will reveal them :P

This happened to me before without the rock being taken for a ride. After the hit no damage that I could spot just by looking at it. I was very surprised, until a few days later the temps dropped and I turned on the defrost, and there it was…..I watch the crack grow across the windshield from the spot the rock hit.

Driving my wife's new 4runner home from the dealer on the 87/260, pow, rock hit with not a single vehicle in sight= new windshield. Here in Az. rocks just fall out of the sky or maybe the birds drop them on new vehicles.

Had one get my windshield perfect on the bottom edge, and the wife hit defrost....
$550 later, it was fixed, and that`s the "generic" brand windshield.
Next time is Gorilla Glass time, since 2 windshields = one Gorilla

Diving home on the interstate and in slow motion movie fashion, I saw a rock bounce out of a lawn care trailer. 1 second……2 seconds……BLAM. Goodbye yearly accessory budget. But wait there’s more…..the rock bounced off my windshield leaving not even a chip and landed on the hood. Had to drive about a mile with it sitting there mocking me. No broken/chipped windshield, no scratched paint. I think I used up all my luck for the rest of the year….

Yes, Jeep has installed a GAM under the hood. (Optional add on)…The gravitional Attraction Mechanism pulls the object down saving the windshield….PS: too much Time on my hands and watching too many SciFi flicks……
