Last Jeep wave oil change

I had my first paid oil change last week. $70.00 at the dealer. I wanted to do my own but after looking to purchase an Alfa romeo and seeing the same (oil related) warranty denial crap in the forums. I passed on the Alfa and the private oil changes.

Finally made it to my last freebie. I will now gladly take over the reins & do my own maintenance. Employee turnover is like a revolving door here. Pull up to the service area & new kid takes the keys. Tells me to go inside with the stub, no thanks I’m gonna watch this. I suspect my 6 speed will confuse him. Yep he’s confused, can’t get it started, asks me if it’s electric??? Luckily someone with a few more years comes along & takes care of it. He talks for a couple of minutes about the gladiator & has some knowledge. Interestingly he was looking to see if there was a taser of any other device attached. Yepp looking forward to doing this myself & leaving the taser mini in it!

I still have my two freebies and honestly I don't trust them to rotate my tires let alone an oil change. I'll be doing and always have done my own maintenance.

I went in for one freebie oil change and rotation, asked them to do a 5 tire rotation, the service writer "wasn't sure they do that", when I insisted he wrote it down. Took a peek in the service bay a little later to see 5 technicians standing around the rear of my truck looking confused on how to lower the spare....
Never again.

I'm overprotective of my stuff and silver tongue talked my filter and oil from a dealer and did it myself . Told em she had 8307 on the OD and now when I check shows 2 left .

Did they give you a paper invoice stating they performed the Jeep Wave service?

Hummm… I did one myself at around 2,000 miles…. Jeep included oil change is supposed to be at 5,000 miles.

If I look on the Jeep application, it now shows next oil change to be done at 10k miles…I am guessing because I reset the oil life…

Anyway, based on some of your experiences, I might just continue to do the oil changes myself….

You know I did not get the paperwork at the time ( took a few minutes running the parts guy back and forth to the service manager to get er done ) and forgot about the paperwork when I left but when I check my Jeep app shows the service for oil was don at 8301 and that is the same thing the carfax will show so i'm good with it . I was going to go back in the next day to get it for records but figured if it showing on the app it's in the system it will show everywhere .

They did you a solid then. Most dealerships would not do that.

I halfway suspect they invoiced it as a service and not parts only so they could bill Jeep for it under the Jeep Wave program.

I’m at the dealership now for my second Jeep Wave. I’ve had good luck with this service department over the years with my JLU, RAM 1500 and now my JT. However, they just came out and apologized for the wait (I’ve been catching up on the forum from the past week and hadn’t even realized it’s been an hour) and tell me they ran out of oil and have to get some more….how does a service shop run out of oil ffs ??‍

I also am an old soul that does not like others "touchin muh stuff " mechanically and was actually at the dealer to purchase the $100 dollar diesel filter and figured I'd throw out my award winning personality to get the dealer to offer up the filter towards my 3 changes ( i was gonna buy my own oil ) and he says would you like the oil also and I say " if you wouldn't mind " .
