The absolute worst thing Stellantis could do is discontinue the JT and adopt a Maverick-type design that has no power, and has no towing capability. Just because you put a hitch on it, doesn't mean it can tow.....hell, I've heard the Ford F150 EV truck sucks at towing, I can't imagine how bad it would be with a weaker engine and lesser power. I'm hoping that it was just something that was being speculated on, but the way Stellantis is buying into this stuff, I can't completely discount it.

Stellantis is not 'buying into' anything. Government mandates are forcing them to go electric to keep their Fleet MPG numbers in a range that allows continued production of these aerodynamic bricks we all enjoy.

Even owners of dealerships don't have crystal balls. Heck, they are as confused as we are when things are changed on their order screen. There's no way Jeep tells dealers of coming plans. It just doesn't happen that way.
It doesn't matter if he's the lead sales guy, owner of a corporation that has 10 dealerships in the nation, or whatever. They don't know anything. They speculate, they guess, and worse yet - they manipulate.
Like already said - we've heard this sort of thing before.
There's too much going on now to drop the JT. It's doing well. New technology in batteries means in a couple of years you'll have more range with less battery weight and size. Here already.
One of the co-founders of Tesla has been saying for weeks that he's been successful at recycling used car batteries and recovering up around 95% of the rare materials in them!

I would like to think I'm a committed car guy, and, have always found that the dealership is the last to find things out. I have three friends that own major dealerships, a couple multiple ones. They tell me the same thing, that new releases, new models are usually found out by consumers that are web and forum savvy first. That said, I think the salesperson was full of it, respectfully, of course.

That was purely a sales tactic. I went to two dealers today to visit the parts counter and sales guys looked desperate. Not a person to be found looking at vehicles and both lots packed with inventory. In fact the one dealer at a 2022 Overland EcoDiesel on the showroom floor with a 61K MSRP sticker marked down to $57K. I can't remember the last time I saw a vehicle marked down around here.

Safe to say interest rates have put a damper on things and sales guys are starting to get froggy.

I confirmed this with my dealer this afternoon and a Jeep representative was in the building. It's not a surprise or unexpected given that Jeep is going to electrify all their models and there has been no news about the JT but the media surrounding the 2024 JL is everywhere. I was told that there isn't a name for their new electric truck but it will be something similar to the maverick in size, price, options, etc. So do we all stop driving these things and try to keep them in mint condition? I am bummed but not surprised.
Dealers don’t know shit ahead of time. We almost always know more than they do, thanks to these forums. They love to make shit up though to try to sound like they’ve got some kind of breaking news. The ‘last year of production’ or ‘limited production’ rumors are one of the oldest sales tactics in the book.

And it doesn’t matter if there was a JEEP rep in the building. Anything they know ahead of time, they’re not allowed to disclose to anyone, including the dealers.

back on bronco6g we used to play a drinking game where everyone had to take a shot whenever someone used any variation of the phrase "my dealer said"... i don't think anyone took the game seriously or actually participated, as I'm sure anyone who did died of alcohol poisoning.

But the point is: that's how much faith you should have in dealers; and regional reps for that matter. Regional reps don't know shit either.
I played, it was the only way to keep my sanity until I cancelled the order and bought a Gladiator.

90% of Dealers are full of sh*t. When in doubt, do your own desktop research before believing those guys.
90%?! You are a nice guy. 99.9999% is what I have encountered. They could tell me it’s sunny outside while I sit in one of their glass cubicles and I would still go outside to check.

So....what happens when they DO shitcan the Gladiator, because of government regulation or whatever the excuse is, and nobody buys their Maverick-esque excuse for a truck, or the people here who jump all over new shiny toys buy one and hate it? Talk about being between a rock and a hard place.
