I should have worded it, or did they figure it out before the 2022 release.

I had the right rear axle replaced a second time about 300 miles ago and so far its dry. I'm not convinced it's a fix yet as the last one went 800 miles before it leaked again.

Just checking in. Replaced at 3800 miles. Now at 4100 and no leak. Fingers crossed.

Quick search of that part number and comes up for wranglers.

I had mine replaced and part number was 68471168AA.

Not sure if wrangler axel shafts are compatible with gladiator shafts.

Edit: Just confirmed on the mopar site that it can be used on gladiators 68474094-AA

Looks like an older version I suppose or maybe I have the older version ??‍♂
yeah, I wonder if some of the re-leaks have a specific part in common. Hoping neither of us has that issue. Not sure why my dealer went with that part over any other I figure maybe it’s a good thing that it is listed wrangler first

Just hit 20k miles on my 2021 Willys EcoD (built in July) and while rotating the tires, I noticed that my rear axle is also leaking on the passenger side. Stopped by Jeep, they are ordering parts.

Any indication that recent axle leak fixes resolve the issue for good? I know we've got a few folks on their third rear axle but I'm hoping they have it dialed in by now, who knows.

Doesn't seem like there is a solid fix at this point. You are entering a crap shoot with the rest of us. I'll be on my 2nd once I finally take It back in.

Just got a call back from Jeep. Currently they have them listed under engineering review, they’ve blocked ordering them. He said back orders are one thing but in his experience, when flagged as under engineering review, it usually means a new solution is forthcoming.

So in other words, we can all expect another leaking axle. Those of us who've had it fixed already...

Perhaps. I'm pretty ignorant (absorbing as much as I can as quickly as I can) when it comes to axle design, specifically ours. Thanks all for posting so much information btw. The paradigm of replacing an entire axle over a seal leak is news to me as of today. With a very mild leak, can it be topped off and monitored for awhile? Trying to figure out a game-plan, we have a 2 month trip to Wyoming planned early June.

Yes. Unless it's leaving large spots on the driveway when parked or it's gone beyond the point of streaking the inside of the wheel a little, you can have a leak and not drop any amount of consequence. It takes a lot of lube to get to the point of dripping on the ground or doing more than making annoying oil marks on the wheel. I've driven vehicles with leaking axle seals for weeks - it's not good, and it can contaminate the brakes to the point of making them grab - or making them not hold.
A little makes brakes sticky, a lot makes them slippery. With ABS the effect would be mitigated to some degree by the ABS.
Likely they won't have replacement parts prior to June at this point.
If it was ME, I'd take a bottle of lube with a hose on it, and a wrench to remove the fill plug (where you also check it) as a precaution but then I'm a paranoid person anyway. I'd bet I could drive from Des Moines to Colorado Springs with the type of leak most are seeing and not lose enough to even have to add any.

Would I just top it up to right at the fill bolt threads on the housing? I see listed capacity but if I'm wanting to just maintain something close to full, without their being a capacity window/stick/etc., what say ye?
