That's what high beams are, the light don't get brighter it just throws the light upward so it has a wider and farther throw. It looks brighter because it's right in your face instead of aimed at the ground in front of your jeep.
Definitely not what high beams are. My headlights go from 4k lumen per headlight low beams to 10k per high beams.

That's definitely what high beams are. Stock high beams just throw the light higher, that's why they are called high beams, anything else would be considered illegal to run on the road. Over the years people started calling them brights but that's because they appear brighter because the light is thrown in a upward position and into your eyes, not because it's actually a brighter beam, that's just facts.

Ok, well my high beams literally throw out 2.5 times more light than my low beams. So there is that.

DOT approved and SAE certified. They sell a ton of different lights that advertise higher lumen output for high beams than low beams with DOT approvals.

Anybody can stamp that on a headlight and call it DOT approved, doesn't mean it is even if they provide a certificate, plenty of china lights that have DOT stamped on them, trust me I use to be a vendor and sell them, they will stamp anything you want on a Headlight or off-road light, doesn't mean a thing, but I got nothing to prove here so carry on.

Anyone with the Hikari headlight bulbs, if the high beams don't look like this then you got a problem and need to contact them to get a replacement set. They should look like this or similar if you have them adjusted right. This is a road I run on at lunch time and those Railroad tracks in the distance are exactly .32 miles from where I'm sitting

Even the factory halogens are rated 50% more lumens on high beam than low beam. Maybe you should tell Mopar their lights break regulations from the factory? I have found no law, regulation, or code saying high beams have to be the same output as low beams.

Take "DOT approval" with a grain of salt......
And check danielsternlighting for info on the issues of "brighter" , etc.

Again, the factory halogen lights have a higher lumen high beam than low beam. I'm not trying to argue for or against it, but saying that it is illegal because of more light output from high beams is wrong, or they wouldn't be sold like that from the factory.
