I wish I could have posted this 38 pages ago. If you are going to do this please please please watch this video. Halogen lenses are not made for LEDs. That said, if you find the correct LED you will get upgraded performance WITHOUT blinding others.

while I agree that a generic LED bulb TYPICALLY doesn't work well with a given halogen headlight lens, this combo does indeed seem to work well together. I'm going on two years with my beamtechs, and I've yet to get a single flash from other drivers indicating I'm blinding them. I definitely would not be running them if they seemed to cause other drivers grief, but that doesn't seem to be the case and the light output is vastly superior to the OEM halogen candles.

I've been running the beamtech bulbs for over six months now and not a single flash for me either. I did adjust them down just a little but the output is so much better than the stock halogens bulbs

Several other posters here have mentioned the same concerns. No apparent problems with the multi-sided LED bulbs floating around in this thread with these stock reflectors though. Or maybe all of the offended drivers that we're blinding every day are just really polite.

Last night I changed from the BEAMTECH H13 S1 Series bulbs to brighter Firehawk 2022 New H13 LED Bulbs. The cutoff is a lot more pronounced with the Firehawks and they are noticeably brighter, but they do not fit in the housing very tightly while the Beamtechs do. I put the grill back together and will run the Firehawks a few days to see if they stay put but most likely I will go back with the Beamtechs.

Have you made a conclusion on these new bulbs yet?

They are still in and working perfectly but I had to add a thin layer of rubber to the pre installed seal that they came with to get them to fit properly and seal to the headlight housing. Once I did that they work great. My only complaint is minor. The firehawk bulbs have a red housing around the LEDs and if you look at the headlights during the day while they are off, you see a glint of red from the reflectors

I'm glad they are working out for you! I ordered the standard beamtech ones everyone recommends and am still waiting for them to arrive. I did see they have one that's double the price but I couldn't find where anyone had tried them so I wasn't sure if they would work or if they might run too hot. Have you tried these? These pictures are from tonight with the $55 Firehawk H13/9008 LED Bulbs, 20,000LM bulbs from Amazon. I complained to the seller about the rubber seal not being thick enough for the bulbs to fit tightly and seal to the housing and they sent a second set that wasn't any better so I found a couple of large rubber washers and cut them to fit. They fit and seal perfectly now and I have the second set if these go out.

Hmm my whole thing with LED replacement bulbs with halogen reflectors is this.. Why doesn't the factories put LED bulbs on these housings off the assembly line. Oh, not DOT or SAE approved. Yes, you can say it's a marketing ploy to get you to spend an extra 1k on the factory led package, but on the other hand, why not make a safer light system at a lower cost (led bulb replacements) because it's a great gig to say IIHS safety pick.

Yes you can physically put led replacement bulbs in and say you haven't been flashed ect, but I also speed and haven't been caught. Its kinda like when people stretch tires... Ya the tire fits, but is it really safe?

Just my thoughts because this topic had been beat to death with HID and now LEDs.

For those of us that didn't opt for the LED group, but want the LED's, this may help some of you. Over the weekend, I replaced my headlight bulbs, fog lights, DRL's, and front blinker bulbs with LED's I got from Amazon. Total cost was about $100 for everything. Still waiting for the tail light LED's and reverse lights to be delivered so I can test those as well.
So far, everything is working perfectly and the LED's look so much better than regular bulbs, and so much better light!
Anyone else tried this? Sorry I don't have any pics yet but will try to get a few this evening.
AMAZON LINKS IN POST BELOW.
Finally got brave enough to pull the trigger and swap all forward lights to led. All I can say is thanks to the many of you that did this and reported your results giving me the confidence to follow you all. all I can say is the results are amazing. Thank you all

Incandescent lamps are much less expensive than LED lamps.

A modern headlamp relies solely on the reflector for beam forming. The front of the fixture is simply a cover, not a lens. And if the light source is placed at the designed focal point of the reflector, then it makes little difference how the light is generated.

Yep, the biggest issue with proper pattern on bulb replacement is them getting the diode placed consistently for proper reflection. Places with less consistent QC could end up all over the place for hot spots and bad patterns even if some are perfect.
