So I am new to jeeps. I come from wheeling my 2011 long travel Tacoma for the past 12 years that had both front and rear long travel. This suspension setup had 14" of travel up front with 18" in the rear. I am used to driving fast off-road and was not afraid to hit g-outs at speed.
I have since sold my Tacoma and have my JT Rubicon. I do more slow stuff now, but would like to eventually lift my JT.
I am looking for various lift options. Mainly for the following.
-more articulation
- more up travel
- road manners as it usually takes 1-3 hrs to get to the trail.
- longevity. I live in Utah. Salt exists on the road in the winters. Future maintenance should be kept in mind. If I can rebuild rod ends, that would be helpful.
I am only looking to eventually run 35's. Not interested in 37's. Mainly looking for a articulation and smooth high speed off-road manners. If hydro bumps are an options that would be cool to.
I have looked at the teraflex extended travel kit, that looks like it might be close to my formal long travel Tacoma kit that I have been accustomed to.
Looking for other options. Mainly short arm as I don't want to do a long arm kit.
Would a coilover conversion be worth it, along with new arms and brackets to maintain geometry be better?
I want to minimize the cutting and welding..I had my fun with my Tacoma . That kinda rules out a coilover conversion. I also am in the mindset of a 'buy once, cry once'" . I would like to do the lift once and do it right.
Any suggestions on which direction I should go will be appreciated.
