That sucks, especially since you bought it second hand used. I have seen dealerships do it with original new owners and can understand it to a certain degree of why they would refuse but to do it with a second hand owner is just petty.

Like what @ShadowsPapa eluded to, not every dealer is going to have a collision/body shop and with the warranty reimbursement rates from FCA, most dealers are losing money taking in the work anyways. So they are not incentivized to accommodate out of dealer network owners.

Push comes to shove, do what @MattK mentioned and call Jeep and see what if anything they can offer to help.

Dealerships can't refuse warranty work, but they absolutely can prioritize work from customers who bought from them over those that did not.

Whether or not they can't, they do. (some do, anyway)
There's been no shortage of posts like the one where they said "no".

Yes, technically they can't refuse but, wink, wink, they can certainly prioritize who gets what in a timely manner.

I think the size of the dealership and competition in the local area plays a big part in it. Within 45 minutes of my home, there has to be no fewer than 10 dealerships I can think of. There is not the same type of relationship building when you are in one of these mega dealerships. You buy a car and you likely never see the salesperson again. Probably working at another place making a few more bucks.

Here, you go in for service and the sales advisor doesn't give a rats ass who the salesperson was. They have their own quotas to reach. What's profitable or not is not their concern; they have numbers to make. Profits are handled by the finance and accounting departments which may or may not even be at the same location.

When I have had any warranty work done on my other Jeeps, or even the "free" oil changes on the new one, I rarely go back to the dealer I purchased it from since there are 3 others within a 10 minute drive from my house. They are all more than happy to have my business. You just have to go in with the mindset (and wear a kevlar jock) that you are not purchasing anything additional since you get bombarded by extended warranties, fuel additives, or other stuff that is not needed. I guess it just goes with the territory.

Here they don't give a rip. In fact, one of them treated me quite well hoping I'd buy from them I suppose - until they told me my winch was the cause of batteries being low - even ignoring that big red switch right next to the battery that shut the winch off completely. Once they said they fixed it by moving a ground cable, and saying that the ABS and traction control don't kick in below 35 mph, I knew I wasn't going back there again.

Be hard pressed to find a documented instance of a dealership losing it's franchise over warranty work refusal. They basically do what the fu*k they want if they are moving units.

Just find another dealer. You can try and force their hand by complaining but are you going to now trust somebody you have made mad to work on your vehicle and give two shits?
This!!! Go somewhere else for any and all repairs. Selective service practices would make me doubt any service from this place. Also never buy from them either!!

I don't know where you are but I know for a fact that Columbia CDJR in Tennessee doesn't care where you bought your Jeep - we moved from California to Tennessee and had no problem getting warranty work done at the Columbia dealer.

when I was looking for a used gladiator I went to them first since they were close they only had 2 available and they were used with high mileage

I found a 2023 Freedom edition with almost every option possible with 12,500 miles and still a year left on the factory warranty so I purchased it

I had actually made an appointment as well for oil change and tire rotation needless to say I canceled that

As my post said, they did refuse the work, just in a round about way by lying to me that they had met their quota on corrosion warranty work and Jeep won’t let them do anymore. When I asked for the document that stated that they said they didn’t even call it in to Jeep because they “just know” it would have been denied.

When Jeep themselves and the dealership that did take the work say there’s no such thing as a quota then the dealership said no to warranty work in another way.

You can read all the threads on this forum about dealerships denying corrosion warranty work. It’s well documented here and Jeep can do nothing about it. In my case Jeep said they were going to document it whatever that means. Anyway, I’ll never go back to that dealership. It was taken over by Autonation from the mom and pop since no one in the family wanted to keep it going on I guess.

I called another dealer 45 minutes away and same song and dance they told be they don't do warranty repairs unless I purchased it there

I will keep calling further out and hopefully I can Fins a dealer that will do the warranty work I am going to see if I can find the dealer that sold it originally and maybe they will do the work

people need to consider when they purchase a vehicle out of the area or in another state they may not be able to get warranty work done If they purchase a used one that is under warranty they are probably going to be out of luck I live in Florida and maybe it is different in other areas I wish I would have known
Just call Jeep customer service and explain what’s going on. It’s warranty work and they get paid to do it. They called around for me until they found one that said yes, and to call them. Might save you some time and hassle of being lied to.

I purchased mine at a dealership about an hour and an half away and the dealership that did the work, subbed it out to a body shop, was 20 minutes away. Its warranty work and Jeep pays the dealership no matter where it gets done.

I think it’s just a hassle they don’t want to deal with. Pictures, paperwork, finding a body shop to take it for them if they don’t have their own, etc.

And warranty work doesn't pay worth a shit. They can make more money from insurance work as far as body work.

Had this happen to me. Had to go to 3 dealerships before I found one who would do it. One dealership said they had halted doing the corrosion repairs until the factory paid them for a bunch of other corrosion repairs they had done months ago.
