It will not diminish the value at all. Too much stock put into that carcrap bit on that sort of thing.
Accidents impact value.
Replacement major parts will not.

If I was buying used and found an engine with FEWER miles than the vehicle, I'd be happy. It would have the same warranty as the original, that's a fact, so you'd be out nothing.

All you are owed is an engine, nothing more - but maybe because they were stupid, you can get an "extended warranty" (which is really a service contract)

I don't know where people get this stuff about carfax and values and engine or transmission replacements and so on.
And frankly, you can tell the shop that you don't want it reported - it's not mandatory, and not all shops even report everything. Some shops don't report much of anything, and there are no rules stating things MUST be reported. There's no law or rule anywhere.

Go after them, yeah, but man this crap about engine replacements showing up in reports (if they do) killing a vehicle's value - why should it? It's not a catastrophic accident.

We had the transmission replaced in a 4xe - you think your Jeep is complex!
The transmission is not only the transmission, but a clutch setup as well as the main drive motor (electric) with a ton of lines and cables and whatever. They must pull the body off to replace the transmission. They have to shut down (properly with the correct sequence) the HV and 12v systems before anything else is done.
It came back flawless.

I have to ask - don't Jeeps have an oil pressure warning light?
I've never run one dry - but I have to think there's some sort of warning.......red light and a chime.
here it is........it shows red with low oil pressure.

Be ready for them to bring that up.
Possible that their attorneys may throw this up, so be ready - that's all I'm saying...........

was gonna type this out but you hit the nail on the head. CarFax isn't a bible despite popular belief. I got scammed on a old Honda years back, it blew a motor and they swapped in a higher mileage one. Carfax was clean, but under deeper inspection the motor vin matched to vehicle with 480,000 miles! not the the 180k car i bought. CarFax insurance was also BS, they said they are only responsible for misreporting not missing info. 5k down the toilet, shits rough as an 18 yr old apprentice att. That being said I've had many a car with motor replacements done during my ownership and none were sold for less than avg market price due to the motor swap. In fact it was rarely brought up and when it was, most were excited that the motor was newer than the vehicle. Bonus perks. The only thing I've ever seen impact a cars value was its standing condition and any reported collisions. A new motor is all I would want and a free extended warranty on it to cover the electric plug they inevitably broke or left loose. Or just trade in on a new one, with the dealer eating all the side cost. just my $0.02

Sorry this happened to ya man. I've had my fair share of dealers giving me the ol' 2 hands on your shoulders prostate check. If it was me and my daily/rig, I'd just ask for a new motor and free extended warranty attached to it. and call it a day. If it was to be my wife's car, I'd want a trade at my vehicle value before incident and dealer eating all paperwork and other BS cost. And also state in trade the dealer must at min buy out the whole loan amount remaining, if the car is upside down. But yeah i wouldn't let my wife and kid rely on a car thats had its guts pulled and replaced by the same idiots who didn't torque a oil plug.

**Update**

Well I drove out there this morning to speak to the GSM Unannounced.

They have agreed to replace the motor with an OEM crate motor, give me an extended warranty and a loaner throughout the entire process.

To be honest, it was a pleasant experience. They did at first throw an "cheaper" solution. All I said was it was not something I was comfortable with. I didn't get much blowback, they agreed and did the right thing.

Mistakes happen, I don't care who you are or what you do, Mistakes happen... It is how it is handled, that is what really matters.

I did leave with a document in hand stating Dealer has agreed to replace with OEM motor.

Cool!

I agree with @dayusmc , that is about the best outcome one can expect from this.

You received what I consider the best case scenario... And didn't have to waist money on an Attorney...
And exactly why you go in like he did first - leave the other stuff for later if even necessary.

And I totally agree with his assessment - @$#% happens. I've made some doozies that have cost me a ton of money, and like I said before - brought a SQL server to its knees in the middle of a production day.
I expect that before the month ends, I'll do something else to add to the list. Could be simple, could be big.
They owned up to it - that's what counts.

Sounds to me like your approach was at least part of the success in this.
Well done (and the same for the dealership)

Logged in for the Update: Monday trip to the dealer; and was pleasantly surprised and happy for the OP and the positive comments reflecting the outcome and approach. Good for you! Best resolution of a bad sitch kind of deal I guess but it's going to work out and that's cool.

Nice!

I dont even think i would be willing to accept an engine replacement. That would destroy the vehicles value and it would also be listed on the carfax and the mileage will not be correct, not to mention the tear down and destruction of the millions of electrical components that will break because of this. But what I will and will not accept is a different story. I am just worried how we will get to that point before I have to hire an attorney.

Man this is a really Crappy situation, to pour salt in the wounds it just got nice weather wise around here and I bought her that Top lift pro... Havent even had the chance to use it :(
None of that is true. Sorry it happened to you, but they aren’t going to give you a new vehicle. They might offer you a good deal on a new one, but you’re going to get a new engine and a loaner car.

People Work?
Now, my biggest harp, do NOT let the dealership do oil changes on your vehicle. The people that do them are not Techs, not Mechanics. They are students from the local school who are supposed to be supervised by a certified tech at all times, but usually aren't.
Frame it and put it on your wall. Get a tattoo. Whatever it takes.
The risk to reward ratio is way way off on this, especially with the plastics involved on these engines.

Ok cool. I was right. lol.

I’ve worked at too many dealerships to know that he had zero shot of getting a new Jeep without them trying to sell him a new one.

Glad it looks to be resolved. I would make sure they do, indeed, install a crate engine. We had a similar situation 20 years ago. My wife had a Nissan wagon, and we took it to the dealer for a water pump replacement, under warranty. I don’t understand how, but, somehow they messed up the timing belt tensioner. Picked it up, and 5 miles later, it locked up the engine. (28,000 miles on the car). Following a lot of discussion, the dealer agreed to replace it with an “OEM” engine. When we got it home, I looked it over, to see how everything looked. There was dried mud on the block, corrosion around water outlets, and 3, yes 3, different types of spark plugs in it. They had replaced the engine with a junkyard “OEM” engine. After a very heated discussion with the service manager, I had a meeting with the owner of the dealership. They ended up buying the car back from us. 2 weeks later, it was in their Sunday paper ad, listed as “excellent 1 owner with a new engine”. Hopefully, you have everything work out right.
