Not sure if anyone is trying these tunes or not, but I just finished the 300 ft lb off idle tune with extensive trans tuning. I took an online school of tuning class for the ZF8. I am pretty happy with how this moves out. Ot holds gears and uses the super charger to drive out unless you give it lots of throttla and then it back shift and gets gone. Only things I am working on at the moment is how 7th and 8th go in and out of lock up as I am using the torque converter slip to keep the hunting down and ruff transitions at cruise. Also sometimes the throttle can be a bit hot off the line. If anyone is interested I can post it.

I'm your huckleberry... Your tunes just keep getting better and better.... and I've tried every single one you've posted. Transparent, smooth and torquey. This is how the Magnuson should have driven from day 1. I hope they're incorporating your tuning strategies into their tunes. None of their tunes, thus far, has had anywhere remotely close to the feel of yours. I'd go out of a limb and say your tunes are actually eclipsing the the smoothness of the original factory tunes... just with a lot more torque/power. The trans tuning is making a big difference.

Well I got mine installed and today is the first day driving it since install. I gotta say, unless the tune is wrong, I honestly feel no difference? Id ask if anyone really notices a big difference, but it seems so. I know this is a massive truck and Im on 37s but I feel like it gained no hp. Going to send the files back to hp tuners along with a data log to see if everything is right with the ecu. No check engine lights or codes however.

Email from HP Tuners. All has been resolved. They sent me an updated file today. It's a night and day difference. I guess I was wondering if anyone else has had that issue. They sent me a file for the VCM Scanner that reads more parameters. So I ran a new log and sent it over to HP Tuners for a read. Waiting to hear back, but again the new tune feels much better. I felt as if the other tune they sent was a stock tune. I will eventually try other tunes but wanted to stay with Magnuson/HP Tuners for now.

So is it an RTD file. No pressure to try my stuff at all. If you are happy with their stuff, that good as it keep your warranty intact. Just curious what they are usinf as they have been out of contact, and how they finally decided to distribute.

No idea, yes its a rtd file. Sorry new to all this. I can turn wrenches all day, but when it comes to computers and electronics, it's a little over my head. The new tune is great. Again, I'll try yours eventually. Thanks.

Just wondering how many ft lb can the 850RE transmission handle? The only information I could locate on the internet was 500 Newton meters, which is approximately 368 ft lbs. Thanks for any additional information you may be able to provide.

zf gearboxes typically hold between 1.5-2x official “rating”. Guys with this gearbox in the b58 equipped X40’s (8hp50 that the 850re is renamed from)are laying down as much as 700+ hp on them.

fca needed the gearboxes in sufficient numbers from an american plant that they licensed the 8hp50 from zf and name it 850re when made in house under that license.

id personally be comfortable taking this gearbox to 500lb/ft.

I have adjusted the trans pressures and timings. To where I feel comfortable the load is not to great. The shifts are a bit more noticeable and lockup is a bit delayed so the TC can soak up some momentum. It is not perfect yet for feel, but it works and I feel it is safe. I am working om getting the sequence ironed out so it feels factoryish. The lower stuff is pretty good. It is light cruise at 70 and above, that is difficult as I need uninterrupted high speed stretches I can take data and repeat.

@DAVESC1 can you look at this and make any sense for me? I know some of the numbers are inaccurate due to the way they are calculated but I do not believe I am making the power I should be and not just off the hp or tq numbers shown, which are probably false, but also the pressure and vacuum numbers? Let me know what you guys think, this was a 0-60 mph run with wot
