If you're worried about a manual tranny, go test drive a manual JL. It will probably be easier to find a manual JL knocking around at a dealership than a gladiator.Anyone else watch this? I completely agree with you. He drives manuals but has he ever heard of downshifting to pass someone? I have been cruising on highway in 6th gear came to a hill and I needed a little “pep” so I downshifted into the appropriate gear to get me over the hurdle. Not that big of deal. Problem is that people want to bash the M/T. It’s a fucking truck!! Not a sports car. Why can’t people understand this??He was driving me crazy about 2 mins in. It seems like he read and watched every review out there and was repeating everything he read or seen in someone else's YouTube video.
I would say I agree that there could be some adjustments to the gearing but my biggest on is the 1st to 2nd shift. I like having the low first gear but 2nd is a good leap away so closing that up would make it easier to skip 1st and start in 2nd or make that jump feel smaller. When it comes to 5th and 6th I think he's a moron. I can set the cruise at 55 stuff it in 6th and the truck manages just fine. Runs about 1600 to 1800 at 55 in 6th. I'm yet to get some good mileage numbers as haven't taken it on a significant trip yet. 5th and 6th are cruising gears to pass drop to 4th and even 3 in some cases. You will notice an auto does the same. I liked the double overdrive and depending on the road and conditions they are equally valuable.
Biggest advise to the guy in the video learn to down shift. As far as loose steering it drives the way all trucks SHOULD, it's not a sports car it's not tuned to city driving.
You’re getting yourself into a bad ass truck. I took delivery of my MT rubicon about a week and a half ago. It’s my daily driver and I commute to work every day where there’s a shit ton of traffic. Stop and go for at least 35 mins of my hour commute. I have no problems shifting and I wouldn’t trade it in for an automatic. I love the way it drives. We (well those of us still waiting) are all in a similar boat and more than willing to endure the wait, but when hearing information like this from a supposed resource, concern, frustration and doubt creep in. Any input and/or response would be greatly appreciated in helping us understand how things like this happen. Thanks in advance.
Alex, thank you. I don't feel anyone is surprised at the inconsistency in scheduling or lack of usable information that can be provided. That is part of the production world, especially on this scale. The concerning part is providing information back to a customer that is inaccurate to what they already know. Being in "D" status for a long time (30+ days), then to be told by FCA chat that you've only been in "D" status for nine (9) days, is beyond aggravating and is how quality customers are lost. Personally, I hope my order/experience does not go down the same path. Jeep has an incredible brand AND an incredible following/family. Forums like this are a great example of that. We are all here for each other, but would like to feel important from a "buyer" stand point. Other than buying a house, these orders/purchases are the second largest investment for most of us. We can't help but be excited, but also don't want to feel like just another statistic.Hi Thorn-Engineering,
We do understand your frustration. Unfortunately, our team is given limited resources regarding vehicle orders. Surprised he didn't mention the soft clutch feel. I drove a JL 6 speed before I ordered my JT and that is what I noticed. I did not have any issue with the gearing. I have heard both sides to the clutch feel argument. While I don't have my JT yet I think it will be a small adjustment period. I think the light clutch is an indication of a better more refined transmission I will miss the big heavy clutch and mile long tracker throws, to me that was where the fun was.Anyone else watch this? Luke, I'm calling BS!Buttery Clutch? Smooth Transmission?? This ain't a Jeep. I'm going to buy a Tacoma and buy some coilovers for it
