Is it possible to modify the back doors to fully open? My poor large lab has difficulties jumping in since the doors do not fully open.

Thanks!

No easy solution that I have seen. You could try removing the black de-tent bar that keeps the door open and then extended the strap an inch or so with some type of open loop.

I'm having the same issue with my German Shepherd. First time jumping in, he smacked into the door pretty hard. We ended up getting a dog ramp (he's also an older dog) and that has helped. Might be worth a try.

My 65 lb. Doberman has been using this since January and it's a lifesaver: Folding Dog Step
just ordered this for my ridgeback. He’s 95lb and trying to jump in through the door, onto the seat, with 4” lift and 37’s just wasnt fair. Dude was trying to do the math every time before launch.

thanks for posting. ?

Thank you! Has anyone tried these on their JT?
Not sure those will bolt up to the JL/JT.
surely won't work with the door check installed.

Have you tried just unbolting the door check? It gives a good bit more travel

Dog fan so maybe this will help.

....or some crafty forum member can construct something close.

JL forum is saying those won't work on JL or JLU so I would believe they wouldn't work on a JT then. Real bummer cause I would also like a solution to help out my Lab.

Using the wrench in the door removal kit provided by Jeep, remove the black bolt, you need to push the rod back into the door so it will close.

Pull off the cover and remove the strap.
The doors will now swing fully open.

Good stuff. My 3yo 130 pounder launches and manages the trip but a few years from now, he'll need a JATO pack or steps to stick the landing. My 10yo little Rat Terrier Jessie has it figured out: jump on the running board then onto the floor then up on the seat. My biggest challenge now is all the dog hair and dander:LOL:

Buddy flies. Lyn not so much. I pick her up like a huge loaf of bread and just ease her in.

When my dog got old and blind, and started having trouble getting into the truck (one of his favorite activities), I figured he'd done his best by me to that point, so I'd do my best to do what it took to get him the rest of the way. I just picked him up (50#). His happiness made it not an issue.
