Mojave Towing Opinion

Alright, I didn't buy the Mojave to tow. But....I have a travel trailer I need to get to our new house when we move in two weeks. It's a 250 mile trip from Fairplay, CO to Durango, CO, so some hills for sure, but a net loss of 3000 feet in elevation.
I have a brake controller and WD hitch, so not many worries there. The trailer is 4000 lbs dry, with a few things in it, so let's say 4500 for good measure. I'll be driving solo, with not much in the bed. After this I won't be towing the trailer anymore.

I'm mostly concerned about the lack of power and the transmission. It's a one time deal, do you think I'm okay? I'm sure it'll be whining at 4500 RPM's the whole way....but I can deal with that.

Concerned about the trans? Do you have the manual? If so I'd be concerned too. Just make sure not to lug it at all, and stay in lower gears. If you have the auto no worries...it's a world class trans.

You are rated for 6k towing with the Mojave Auto, should do fine as long as you know it will stay I'm higher RPMs.

I pull a tandem axle 12’ trailer that’s about 4500lbs frequently. Of course it’s flat as a pancake here in coastal TX but we have wind, Sometimes 20-40mph winds. I sometimes use manual shift mode to keep rpm’s down but no problemo. Might want to get some airbags to keep from sagging though. Airbags are cheap and definitely help. Your only concern is the sag. Tranny and motor will do just fine.

Oh heck you'll be fine.

Use the manual mode of the automatic if needed on hills - save the brakes.
Don't sweat higher RPMs. It's fine up in the 3,000s and 4,000s range.

Your weight distributing hitch will help a whole lot.
