Mouse damage prevention ideas

Moved to house in country. My wife's car, not a jeep cost us 1k and the insurance company a bit more. It was parked in our pole barn for 2 weeks.

I'm now gun shy to park anything in there even though I have the perfect pulley system set up for roof removal.

Any ideas that work. A cat came with the property and doesn't earn his pay. Seems to just chase the other feral cats away.

Best idea gets a free cat.

Traps in the near term.

Never kill a black snake or really any other non-venomous species.

Cats are absolutely terrible. They decimate native songbird populations that are already threatened and not doing well. Cats are not native to any ecosystem in NA and need to be kept inside always.

Bucket mouse trap

You can keep them alive or half fill with water and drown them.

I should add, in your case do more than one route. Use the peppermint oil and some sort or trap to reduce the population.
