So my JTRD has had a mystery squeal post recall fuel pump swap at 30k, it now has 56k miles and the noise is even more pronounced.

Has anyone else experienced this noise?

its is coming from a front accessory? Does it get louder when you rev it .

No it doesn't, at least I do not notice it when I'm driving it with the windows down. When the truck is cold and I'm slow rolling through a parking lot, it sounds like squeaky brake pads.

I had something similar…. It was my water pump. It was covered under the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. Not sure if power train would have covered it.

My video sounds similar to yours albeit I think I caught it pretty early - my motor only had 28ish k on it. My dad also had his water pump replaced before the 36k on a 2022 motor.

My JTRD and a few others from this forum posted the same squeal that sounds like a pully bearing going bad the day after the fuel pump was replaced. The service adviser said that the serpentine belt probably has a little diesel on it from the replacement and would eventually stop, but the squeal is still there after 6 months!

Thanks for the responses. Doubtful it's diesel on the belt. Highly likely it's water pump pulley, based on the coincidental mileage 30+k at time it started and timing of recall replacement. I wonder if it's covered under the 100k warranty or if it's the 36k? I think "WolfIslandDiver" just recently had a similar issue.

Are you down any coolant? My dad had his topped off twice before he finally made them keep it until they found the leak. I also would get whiffs of antifreeze every once in a while.

I have had to add coolant twice after long trips, but I don't have and spots in my driveway. These things aren't known for popping head gaskets, so I chalked it up to evaporation over time and miles.

That makes me think water pump like mine. I was low once and topped it off before noticing the sound. There were no visible leaks on mine either.

My dad’s Ram, same story. His dealer topped it off twice and said they couldn’t find any leaks even though it was low. He then made them keep it until they did, 30 days later they dyed the coolant and drove it to find it was the water pump leaking ever so slightly from the weep hole.
