If you're looking for used, I would avoid the COVID vehicles...those manufactured in mid-late 2020 to mid 2021. Quality control was very lax (or even non-existant) during that time because everyone was out or, there were limited personnel for shifts during that time and a lot of shoddy parts were let slip through and into production.

I've read that a LOT of vehicles (Jeep Gladiators too) were/are having serious issues, that were manufactured during that time.

If you're looking at new '24's I'd look somewhere other than that dealership, unless that price is the best you can find.
I don't like games and it sounds like they're playing games.
I bought a camper this year. First dealer gave me two prices, one for financing and a higher price for cash. I went to a different dealer who doesnt play that game, and got the best price for cash. Keep shopping.

I’m not worried about 2k, I don’t like false advertising, also I am more worried about the depreciation over time. I also own 5 houses free and clear. I like to make smart financial decisions, I believe it has helped me acquire what I have quickly. I don’t like throwing unnecessary money away, meaning I want the least depreciation Jeep
Don't like throwing money away? You do know what Jeep stands for right?

Smart financial decisions? You really shouldn't buy a Jeep if that's the case. Also: BMW, Porsche, Audi... :P

BTT:

If there's no prepayment penalty, I'd take the finance deal, drive the new truck to my bank immediately and pay off the loan. That dealer can suck eggs.

My 2 centavos 2023 or newer only because Jeep made an attempt to address hinge corrosion by placing zinc shims underneath the hinges. Seems to be working compared to my 2020 wrangler which Jeep bought back in 2022 for excessive corrosion.

that isn’t good, I have a 2021 wrangler in Purerto Rico. Hope it holds up from corrosion. Is it a recall?

Your deal isn't as important as buying the right model to suit your needs. To me as I was looking, towing was important, as was navigation for the wife. Warranty left was another big factor, so I settlef on the year model 23. That gives me a remainder in warranty, extra options and since it was a one owner low mile truck, he took the hit and I got it for less than the price of a semi-loaded sport model
Shop around and find the truck you want. Dont settle

On the other hand, I've had no corrosion issue on my 2020.

They don’t all lose value and I know it isn’t an investment. I rented my Prius out on Turo and stopped renting it when it made more than the price I paid for the car. I won’t be doing this with the jeep. My Lambo I bought used for a good price drove it 3 years and sold it for the same as I bought it. So as you can see, I would like to take a very minimal hit on depreciation
You are kidding yourself if you think There is a Jeep that does not loose value......

I guess my question boils down to, it looks like okder

i never said there wasn’t, simple question was is it better buying used vs new. One that already took a big depreciation hit. I guess the answer is simple.

Buy new at the best price, and never return to the dealership unless absolutely necessary!🙂

1. I can’t help myself - depreciation will always be a thing, unless there is an extenuating circumstance tilting the market temporarily.

2. New is the way to go IF you can get a phenomenal deal that essentially compensated for the depreciation. I bought my 23 for 15 grand off MSRP. When it was stolen a month later, progressive offered me almost exactly what I paid for it. Maybe $1500 less overall. Basically, used versions of my truck were selling for about the same price as I paid for mine new, so the ACV was still solid.

There’s no way to predict future depreciation. It will be based on the market and what people are willing to pay. You can only look at historical data. Problem with gladiators is that all the data we have is skewed by COVID.

I don’t think you will make money off one as an investment strategy, but you can limit your losses by getting the absolute best deal possible. Either get 25% off MSRP on a new 23, or look at a used 22/23.

First of all, you're correct that the Gladiator is another poor sales year from being a collectible-- especially the 3.6. I'd go 2023, unless you really like the (very minimal) changes in the '24.

All that said, since money doesn't seem to be a factor for you (not a slam, just an observation), I'd consider waiting for the hybrid. More power, more practicality and likely a 1 or 2 year run before Stellantis fails or they chop a number of models from their lineup.

For those about to tell me "If I had a nickel for everyone who predicted the end of the Gladiator..." --the numbers don't lie. Corporations need money, and the Gladiator isn't making it, anymore.

The Nighthawk edition is really a bargain if you want the features that it has. It is similar to the price of a base sport but you get:
- Painted top/flares
- Wide HD Axles
- LSD
- Power locks/windows
- rock rails
- Auto transmission
- 32" tires on 20" wheels(IMO would prefer 18s)

For $38k brand new for a 2024, it is a really good deal, if you want all those features. It will most likely hold it's value fairly well since the purchase price is low and it has an auto trans/power locks and windows.

If you want a gladiator, and you and like the options it comes with, I would get it. It will be hard to find a low mileage used Gladiator or left over 2023 with the same options for under this price unless it has a good amount of mileage, is older or was a rental vehicle, etc...

If you're prepared to make a mini vacation and travel...what's stopping you from getting the best deal in any state? Koons in VA has offered me great deals over the years.
I second this. I bought both of our jeeps out of state. I saved 2k+ on each of them. If you can search nationwide and travel to save.
