You don’t know my wife. She’s the kindest, smartest, most loving person I know. She freakin hot as Hell, keeps our family on track and we are all the better for it. Oh yeah, her JL is a Recon, she is not afraid to get dirty, and she is a better technical driver than me. But thanks for sharing.
That's awesome man. Glad you found a good one. I've got a remarkable woman myself... been together since we were 16. It just seemed like low hanging fruit, so I couldn't resist the joke.

Last sunday freak medical shit, my right ear went 100% deaf. No need to tell the story here, just know, it is a legit 100% lost. And... My left ear sucks from 20 years in the Navy serving alongside the Marines as a medic and on board ships. All indication is my right ear loss is permanent. Even if I get some back it won't be conversational hearing.

I'm the proud owner of a 2020 Mojave, and my wife has a 2020 JLR. I love them both, and until a week ago could not imagine myself in another vehicle, other than another JT, ever again. Now that I can only hear from my left crappy ear I can hardly stand to drive either of them. When I am driving with my windows up, radio off and AC on low it sounds like my left window is open about 3 inches. I can barely understand the passenger and cannot hear any conversation from the back seat. If the family goes somewhere I sit in the back right seat so my left ear is to the family and the cabin. I am fine by myself in my gladiator, with an ear plug. Or as a passenger.

The JLR is going nowhere, but my Mojave is not long for my ownership, unless I can get it quiet. I have never asked the community for input until now. I have two questions:

1. Can I do it? Can I make it more quiet or is it a lost cause? I have been around the community for a while and know that Jeep Bricks travelling at 75 mph makes a lot of wind noise.
2. If I can't make this work, what truck do I buy? I am torn between a loaded Ram Big Horn diesel or an F150 XLT hybrid. I know the 2020's will be out soon. I expect them to just be different cooler than the 2021 but I don't think there is anything big that would sway me one way or another. If you think there is a specific good reason for something different let me know please.

I am a desert kid that likes to go where I want to go. I do not need to crawl much.

Thank you fellow Jeepers.
I feel ya brother, too many years around steam turbines aboard ship took it's toll on me as well. Hope you find a solution. There's lots of soundproofing materials out there.

Dude, congrats! Highschool sweethearts is rare. I get it, thanks for responding. I’m so used to those “guys.” We all know’em and I know I’ve said my fare share of stuff that wasn’t cool.

Raising kids to be good, and better than me, has lead me to live as a better person. My kids are so much better than me! I was kind of a jackass. My wife and kids, I owe my life.

Thanks! Hope to see ya on the trails!

First Off, I love me some Jeep community. I can't even find a forum for the Rams worth a shit. I gotta say it, the Gladiator has my heart. It really is my favorite vehicle, my favorite in 32 years of driving. I am staying in the family, for now for sure. I am going to start working through the advice you fine Jeepers have given me. But, I think I will test easy upgrades on this Rig, and then trade up in a year or two. I could make any JT Diesel bad ass, and it would be quieter. What I really want is at JT 4xe Mojave, fingers crossed. I can wait if I know its coming.

You all are great! Next question:

I have the factory M/T's not sure how much a difference it makes because my wife has the A/T, both original 33", both seem same loud so I don't know? I was going to eventually go up to 34"ish A/Ts. I appreciate recommendation on tires in that realm with a good balance of on and off road manners?

Thanks again!
Yes, I'm double posting in the Wrangler Page! Its funny how the communities are so close, but not! I love it, its family!

For $6 can’t beat it. I noticed today my wife’s JL doesn’t have a door seal on the a pillar. Is that normal?

I believe you can still order a RHD Jeep’s, so there is this option. Other than that it’s fairly simple to sound deaden the Jeep yourself. The whole thing doesn’t need to be done but sections can be done to help quite a bit. I purchased the sound deadening material on Amazon along with the rollers.

Another option is the spray on undercoating will also act as a sound deadening material. Ziebart or LineX will be able to help in this department.

As others have said, dynamat is wonderful and they have many products to choose from. The only downside is weight. There is also second skin which to my knowledge is one of the few companies that takes into account the materials they use in order to prevent releasing VOCs into the cabin

Okay, everyone has some good ideas to quiet the JT, but you are probably going to need to think about getting hearing aids. I recently discovered that I had sudden severe hearing loss in my right ear as well. I have only 10% comprehension in that ear. I'm finally getting dialed in with my hearing aids and the latest thing in hearing aids is where the hearing aid on the bad ear sends conversation to the good ear. Yeah, sounds a little strange, but look into it a bit. The new aids allow you to receive calls and listen to music and videos on your phone and can be adjusted using your phone to cut down the road, wind and tire noise in your jeep. Good luck !

Sorry to hear about your hearing loss. Hopefully you find a working solution to keep your JT.

My $0.02 - Get a decibel measuring device or app, and compare your JT to another vehicle that you consider acceptable sound wise. Get a sense of how much reduction is necessary and also will give you an idea of how well the mods work.

Maybe @JeepCares could have an FCA acoustic engineer give you some advice

I would think the ultimate solution is an fully electric vehicle. The 4xe won't give you enough of electric only range. It's still a few years away, but I bet most manufactures will have an fully electric truck coming.

Best of luck
