I just purchased a Tazer mini and have a question for the more experienced. I think I can without issue do the changes I want. Are there any potholes I need to be aware of that may not be covered in the installation pdf? FYI, I want the cooling feature, auto start disable, and a few more like these. I own a gladiator overland so there isn't many features I can address.

They are pretty straight forward. videos on youtube are a lot more helpful than the written instructions. And if it doesn't connect or operate, hook it up to a pc and use Tazer software from thier website to update it or rebios it BEFORE telling everyone its a POS product and returning it. Tazer is pretty quick with support as well if you have an issue too. The only other thing i can say, don't be scared to hit that reboot button. If something ain't working or a setting ain't sticking, reboot will 99% of the time fix that. have fun.

Preface: Read up on their website regarding the features that are automatically change when you plug it in (in other words, the settings that change without you even telling it to).

The things I've changed & remember off the top of my head are as follows:
1. Being able to "program" the cruise control buttons for functions when you are not using the cruise control.
A. I programed my "up" arrow to turn on the rear facing camera on demand. Side Note: I did not find the "turn cam" setting to be very helpful. I highly recomend this to everyone!
B. I programed my "down" arrow to turn on the "turn assist" or whatever they call it. This is the feature that when in 4-Lo it applies the anti-lock breaks to your right or left tire when you max out your steering wheel to either of those sides (right or left).
C. I do not have the right or the left cruise control

2. I have gone full circle with the Auto Start-Stop feature. I don't mind my engine turning off anymore. Possibly because my work truck does it too. However, if for some reason it bugs me that my engine turned off (like at a traffic signal), all I have to do is lift off the break pedal ever so slightly to make the engine restart. After that it does not shutdown the engine again until a new stop.

3. I programmed my tire setting to match my 35" tires. No biggie there.

4. I have tinkered with the "Winch Mode" setting, but I'm rarely not in the drivers seat with the winch is operating.

I will post more info as I remember them. LOL

Is it wise to update the firmware/bios of the Tazer before installing it?

DEFINITELY get the extension cable. You don’t want to cut your hand up getting to the SGW again once you have done it once.

I made a ton of changes but can’t remember them off the top of my head since I am used to them all now. It took a minute with the poor instructions but easy once you get the hang of the toggle. I suggest printing a copy then going out to your truck to play around for an hour.

I was a critic at first but now I have done several changes with it.
ESS off
Seat belt beep off
Gears
TPMS
Tires
Atuto park off
I set the Fob out of vehicle warning to off but it didn't take.
I want to add the forward trail camera kit. A phone number to call for support would be great.

I use the Tazer for its live features and the PIN lock feature. I prefer to use JSCAN for all the programming like tire size change, etc...

My Tazer isn't even married to my truck. The live features work without it being married...

I think the Tazer is a great product. They also have great customer support.

Tazer mini is installed and I have successfully made a few changes. So far things have went well. I understand the features better now and of course better understand their best use while driving and being offroad. Thank you everyone for your comments.
