Got the message that the truck was ready to pick up yesterday. My excitement turned south when I got home. I can definitely hear the injectors but there is a different knocking/clicking than before I brought it in. Sent the dealership a video and they asked me to bring it back in. This time they are giving me a courtesy vehicle.
Hope you get it solved. I’m supposed to hear from my service rep today.

I don’t have much faith in their techs, but I am stuck with them at the moment. At startup it was quiet, but after getting to 2.5-3k rpms on a drive it starts clicking. I’m guessing that after they finished the installation, it started up quiet, they took it for a drive for 3 miles and didn’t see any check engine light and then got out after turning the truck off as opposed to getting out and listening first. The sound is obvious, I purposefully left it running when I pulled it in yesterday and they heard it immediately.

So, there is a new sound after they fixed the old one?

yeah, it was not the same ticking I heard when I started this 7 weeks ago. They messaged me this morning and said they might have it wrapped up by end of day today, otherwise they will give me a loaner. I need to leave town tomorrow morning and can’t leave the wife stranded with our 10wk old without a vehicle.

Well that really sucks.
I'm in a downer mood right now. I got the call from my service rep this morning. My new engine with just under 10k has a head gasket leak. They're going to replace it with another brand new engine but they don't know when it will be in. I'm biting my tongue to control my language right now. Engine #3 on order.:mad::mad:.

Not sure I could keep my cool, but I KNOW my wife wouldn’t be able to. It’s bad enough that she is stuck with the baby with no vehicle if there is an emergency and I am 45min away.

The more I think about it the more po'd I get but the best I can do is stay cool and work through the process. Since it appears that extended warranties are available, I'm going to be pushing for one. That and a rental car, even though I don't need one.

I've figured it out. It's not where you live - it's your name.
Kevin in Canada is on engine 2 or 3 and transmission 3.
I did a double-take when noticing your name was also.......

Made me laugh.
Hopefully the third time is a charm.
Or I need to change my name.

Just got back from the dealership again. They said the tech was going on his test drive and if he gave the okay I would head home with it and if not I would be leaving in a loaner…well I left in the loaner. They replaced the phasers and oil control valve and apparently it misfired while on his test drive. So they have now replaced a worn camshaft with a new one, new lifters/rockers, cam phaser and an oil control valve. Thinking they are working towards having to replace a whole engine here soon. My fear is they let me take it yesterday and it did more extensive damage that they are now chasing.

Rather unlikely. A worn cam has already messed up the followers.
A worn follower has already messed up the cam.
The other parts - unlikely to be "damaged".

I called my service rep today.
My new engine is supposed to arrive at the shop tomorrow.
Then they'll schedule it for install based on what's in line before mine.
I could have it back by the end of next week.
That made me happy.

After a week of no updates, I got a call from my Jeep Cares rep. He said he was going to call and see what was going on. 5min later the service department at the dealership calls. Says “we found the noise and it’s taken care of and you can come get it”. Rather odd that I get told that moments after they get a call from Jeep Cares. I’m holding a sleeping baby so I didn’t press him, but will when I go to pick it up I’ll be asking. It wasn’t just knocking, it was the misfiring they witnessed after putting in the cam phasers and oil control valve that has me concerned. Seems like they just want to get me out of there as soon as possible. I’ll be buying JScan and OBDLink to monitor for misfires in real time here soon or unloading the truck altogether since I don’t trust this dealership did the right thing.
