FCA is going to ride this one out and use warranty attrition to cover their ass financially. To even do a special warranty extension for this issue would open them up to having to cover past repairs that were customer pay out of warranty.

I also speculate since the symptoms are gradual on failure and not immediately catastrophic, it will skirt ever being a true NHTSA ordered recall.

I am just hoping those on or before dates in the TSB mean newer builds have improved parts as I would fall in that category with my 2025 JT.

i do have intermittent valve train noise, typically when the engine is around 3000 rpm under load.

Sounds like i just developed an intermittent rough idle too if i want to ensure this is fixed properly. My experience with dealerships is the word 'intermittent' is code for "hold the vehicle overnight, don't even start it, and claim the problem could not be replicated"

Maybe if i use enough words off the TSB they'll actually fix my valvetrain noise.

2800 or so RPM is around when the high lift portion of the VVL engages. Might want to consider an oil analysis and/or popping valve covers off for an inspection

If mileage is low enough just run till it gets worse till its undeniable also is the other option.

It sucks to be so jaded: every time I see a report of a manufacturer claiming to have definitively identified the source of an issue, my eye roll is nearly uncontrollable and I find my right hand making a wanking gesture in the air.

I always check these threads out and get freaked out because I have a 23 JTR with 52k miles on it. It drives fine, no codes, no CEL, but I do feel like the engine does have a tick at idle that to me is nothing more than an auditory annoyance. I keep thinking I may take it to the dealer just in case before my powertrain warranty runs out. Better safe than sorry right?

On a serious note: there are common reports of some dealer techs not being very good (or just plain too rushed) and causing more harm during the “repair” or forgetting to tighten important bits. Many would rather avoid any interaction with the dealer service department, even if it’s free.

I wonder what improvements are in the AB replacement. And I wonder if this is truly the fix. For the prior Pentastar‘s tick, the replacement parts got all the way up to AH.

They set this kit up to repair the cam/lifter issue without having to replace the engine. That’s a lot cheaper for them.

Supposedly there are 10,000 cam shafts on back order. I guess these new pt #'s replace those? It would seem if this is the case it will still be impossible to get one. I'm surprised no one in the aftermarket is making valve train components for these engines.

I’m at 39k BUT over 5 years as of May. Is this a fix or just a replace the parts and come back next time for more?

ime at 27K all highway and beach driving..lol, my commute is 75 RT a day all highway. I will probably pass 60 k in the next year and a half, fingers crossed. The wife's only has 18K. Ime on the fence about a MOPAR Extended warranty when hers is close to being out of the factory warranty or just hope we don't have the issue as I don't have any faith a dealer would fix it correctly. We have a great local shop that specializes in only JEEPS and I would probably rather just buy the parts and have them do the work if we were out of warranty. Totally sucks that they are passing this off to the consumer!! But- we love our JL and Gladdy
