So is there a new part number aside from the kit number? From what I’ve been able to find, the cam part number is the same as the one they used to replace mine back in Oct 2023. Or is it the same parts, just a new supplier with better quality controls?

That’s a good question. I am curious about that as well…

I also wonder if there will eventually be aftermarket parts, like there are for the original pentastar.

Stopped by the dealership today to get the baby car seat base out. No update, no courtesy vehicles available just a number to call to inquire about rental assistance from CDJR. I then test drove a Ram 1500 Warlock. I don’t need a hemi, the I6 twin turbo drove real nice and I’m not a bells and whistles kind of person, my gladiator is manual with manual windows and locks. They are going to see if they can run numbers to get to what I asked for which is significantly lower than what they started at.

Then I had a missed call from Jeep Customer Care, no update on the kit but I am listed as priority and “shouldn’t” be too much longer. It was hard to understand all of the message but They are offering a pre-owned 4yr/60,000mi warranty as a courtesy(no cost, just a $100 deductible)if I stick with the Gladiator.

It seems odd to me that they are trying to get you to stay in the Gladiator. I would think they would WANT you to buy a new Dodge truck. If you like your Gladiator then it sounds like a good deal to me.

Well, might save up and just buy each kit to sit on the shelf for later. Sheesh.
That would be a good idea unless they come up with a better solution before you need this one and your money ends up sitting on the shelf forever.

The part numbers changed, so something with the kit changed 🤷‍♂️

Customer care called this week. My kit is on its way to the dealership and they tacked on an extended warranty taking me to 9yr/120k. Just going to change the oil every 2k for the next few months and hope the engine goes inside the warranty window and I can get a new one for the $100 deductible.

So does this mean you have yours in the shop for this problem? I didn't see a previous post.

I put my Mojave in the shop on Thursday with the rough cold idle. The diagnosis showed no misfires as the cause so they are waiting for advisement from Chrysler on what to do about it. Chrysler has to approve any warranty repairs for the dealer to get paid for the work. I should hear from them early next week.

It looks like a few of us are curious about what was changed. With the contact parts wearing prematurely it seems they would need to use harder materials to avoid the wear. I don't know too much about them but in my inferior knowledge I would think rollers would work better as long as those moving parts have the longer service life.

They went through 5184380AD, 5184380AE, 5184380AF, 5184380AG and now they are at AH cams.
Who knows why the minor revision to the part number- could be supplier or almost anything.
What I find interesting is that the right intake camshaft part number 5184380AH is listed only up through 2024.
MAYBE it's a simple matter of MOPAR not keeping up, as is usual and common for them to miss updates and changes or post slightly inaccurate information.

Rollers aren't possible on these followers, not enough space. It would require a redesign of the head, as well as camshafts and followers.

Thank you.
like I said “ in my inferior knowledge”.
I haven’t done internal engine work in decades and without doing more research than I care to spend time doing I wouldn’t know what it would take for that change.
I’ll be keeping my eye out for what they actually did differently.
Any guesses?

Yes, mine has been at the dealership for over 6 weeks. The cam kit has been assigned to me and is on the way to the dealership and customer care extended my warranty to 9yr/120k.

I just got the call from my dealer service. Chrysler authorized inspecting the camshaft and lifters so they’ll be looking at that on Monday. I like the extended warranty you got. If they install the new kit I’m going to try and get that for mine. I already have one extended warranty but I’ll take all I can get.
How did you go about negotiating that warranty?

I got lucky and didn’t have to negotiate it. I know everyone has stuff going on, but I explained our situation and the strain it is putting on our household and they offered it to me. I’m definitely grateful that they offered it to me as a courtesy

Got the message that the truck was ready to pick up yesterday. My excitement turned south when I got home. I can definitely hear the injectors but there is a different knocking/clicking than before I brought it in. Sent the dealership a video and they asked me to bring it back in. This time they are giving me a courtesy vehicle.
