I get 8th gear with 4.88 gearing and 35s.
But I see 14-15 MPG Maybe 17 on the highway.
Mine is a pig.

So my 2022 Gladiator Mohave with Fuel Wheels, Mopar lift, and 37-inch KM3s is often getting 20+ mpg highway driving in Colorado. It gets about 16-17 around town. I just got back from a 1,400 trip starting in Denver and highway speeds (75+) to Montana and returning on the Wyoming BDR, mainly forest-type roads and some medium trails, and the computer showed 19.7 mpg. The JT has been updated to 36.5-inch actual tire size via my Superchips FlashCal F5. When looking at the computer versus calculating mileage at a fill-up, the computer is typically a little optimistic by 0.3 to 0.5 mpg. Still, I have been happily surprised at the overall comfort and drivability of JT versus my old 2009 JKU.

Mine is a diesel...so it's going to be a bit different than the gassers... but. My most recent trip I averaged 19.5 over about 4500 miles. All different terrains, usually going 5mph over speed limits, wheeling, idling, general traffic and all that. I'm on 40's, stock 3.73 gears, have a LOT of weight in the back, and not aerodynamic by any means.

Before the 40's I was on the stock wheels/tires with all the same weight in the back and got 24.2mpg over about 3,200 miles. Same thing as far as driving, wheeling, idling, traffic.

Before all the extra weight in the back, I had just a dual swig-out rear bumper, leveling kit, and a tonneau cover and I got 28.6mpg over about 1,800 miles. Same thing as far as driving, wheeling, idling, traffic.

None of this is hand calculated, just what the dash/trip shows.
All in all, i'm still very impressed with the performance :)

I think he was coasting downhill, reset the fuel economy estimator and then it landed on 22 mpg as he was coasting and he took the pic, as it reads now, he is not hitting the gas and coasting

OP is an epic “hyper-miler” (how the VW TDI people put it). In OP’s case, have the spinnaker ready to go and put it in neutral.?

Rubicon 3.6 on 37's = 12-13 mpg max, also driving the speed limit. I've literally never seen above 14.5 on any significant trip. I must be dragging anchor .
I have the same, but with a 6MT. I can get 17-18 MPG at 75-80MPH with some northern KY hills (nothing like Colorado for sure). I use ACC when on the hwy and leave it in 4th gear for the most part.

It seems feasible to me. In comparison, my family trip this summer through Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina in my 2020 Rubicon 3.6L with 37" KO2(c)s on stock rims and 4.10 gears I averaged 21.4 on the highway. This was over the span of 2626 miles with 4 adults plus luggage, cooler, and recovery gear in the covered bed. Speedo is dead on with my GPS (Tire size adjusted by Tazer) and cruising 2-3 mph over the speed limit most of the time.

Now I did spend 2 days wheeling in Windrock, 3 days in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and 1 day wheeling at Uwharrie. On those days my mileage was a lot less which is to be expected.
I agree with its feasible.

35"s with 3.73 gears. filled up in GA/SC border and drove to roanoke,va on a single tank of gas. We casted down the mountain on fumes, but with the right weather conditions, i agree its feasible.

Lol yes I was going downhill as that’s how you get back to Denver from the mountains, but I have never reset the fuel economy estimator since the day I bought my jeep.

I'm telling you, I'll never see 17-78 mpg in this truck (current around town 'Fuel Economy' display show 12.5 MPG). My truck runs in 6th and occasionally 7th gear at 75mph on the highway. If an angle farts, it's shifts back into 6th. Before the tires it was the same song, different gear (replace 6th for 7th and 7th for 8th). At that, it's running either 2800 rpm in 7th or 2400 in 6th.

It appears mathematically impossible for me to get 17-18 MPG if I can't get the RPM any lower than that. I'm considering re-gearing to 5:13's, but that's just going to change the gear closer to stock, but not going to impact the RPM to achieve that speed. I honestly believe this powertrain is incapable of pushing this brick through the wind at any lower RPM that I'm currently running , and if that doesn't change I can't see the MPG changing.

I'm not bitching. I knew what I was getting into when I bought it, but this powertrain is a joke.

Mine on 37s can't even coast down hill for long without me slightly adding some gas. It's a brick?

It's crazy how folks with the same rig get wildly different experiences. I live in Ohio, which I think is about the same as MN in terms of elevation, etc. I haven't reset my average MPG gauge since I bought the truck (I do reset the trip odo's, but not the "main" MPG gauge) and I'm averaging 16 with mostly non-hwy miles.

On the hwy, in 4th gear at 76 MPH I'm sitting just below 3000 RPM to keep the oil pump in stage 1 and seeing 17+ if there is no cross/head wind.

Definitely agree, anything below 2500 or so and it feels like a dog.

I will be re-gearing, but probably 4.88... haven't completely made up my mind on that yet.
