Interesting time to be a Jeeper - can’t wait to see the details!
(But I would really rather see it in the JT)

With how backwards jeep is it will probably have less towing and be only available in 2wd
Yes, I wouldn’t be surprised if the towing was less. Another thing is the v6, although it struggles with torque, doesn’t get bad gas mileage towing a 6400lb trailer. Will the v8 tow more comfortably but get worse gas mileage? I can always regear the axles to add torque to the v6.

But then again, it’s a v8 hemi...yum

Is the "392" the same as the Hemi 6.4 - which makes 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque? Its just referring to the Hemi by its displacement in cubic inches (392), as opposed to liters (6.4) - right? Or does the "392" specifically refer to the 392 SRT, which makes 485-horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque? Can someone set me straight please.

If its the 6.4 Hemi found in the Ram 2500 it shouldn't be a huge price increase. If its the 392 SRT I guess it is going to be very pricey.

Wait, what? You're positing a 110% markup?
Basing that on the Wrangler one they are supposedly coming out with with a $90,000 price tag, I would assume the JT would probably be more than that, but I would expect it to be no less than $90,000

no chance it’s more expensive than a base line TRX.

No way they price them less than $90,000, I'd put money on that. If they do make them it will be under limited production, same way they are doing the Wrangler.

Jeep Gladiator Official Reveal: Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 V8 Hemi F73DA1F3-71FF-45B9-A70B-60A927664CD3

[/QUOTE]
Thanks. I know this is cool, but I’m a little bummed that they are going with the really high end option, when I think a lot of us would prefer a more affordable V8 like the 5.7 or even the standard 6.4. But kudos to FCA for finally putting a V8 in a “wrangler” Jeep/truck. I wonder what happened to all those reasons they couldn’t even put the 5.7 in a Wrangler? It’s too big, it’s too heavy, it gets bad mileage, it’s too powerful. Now we get the 392 SRT? I guess those excuses were BS, and all they needed was a poke from Ford.

The MPG is a big issues mostly due to range as the gladiators fuel tank is so tiny. That being said I don't miss fueling my raptor which took forever and usually asked for $100+ at the pump. I am still excited about this but may think the 4XE gladiator might be the better option for power and range unless it's not reliable....they should have done this 2 years ago

I don't understand how you can compete with the likes of the Raptor at 90k+

I'm rarely one to poopoo the idea of a v8 in a jeep but if they are seriously going to be in the 90k range I would expect a hellcat motor or something in the 700 hp range. Not that mid 400 hp is anything to sneeze at but If anyone is looking for power/torque the ecodiesel took care of that and is only mid 40's in the sport s trim. If they're gonna do it, offer the 400hp range motor in a 55k+ package but do the limited production unit with a power plant(hellcat 700+ hp) that legitimately commands a 90k+ price tag.

They wouldn't be trying to compete with a raptor because a Raptor has a V6 now, if it had a V8 still I'd have one in my yard. That's why I wanted one. I was disappointed when they dropped the V8 in favor of the V6. A 6.2 liter supercharged hemi is going to bring a hefty price in a JT. For one they are going to be well equiped, so you can take the best Rubicon you can find and then add another at least $25,000 to that.

A regular V8 charger cost between $36,000 to $41,000 roughly a Hellcat charger starts at $70,000, that's a least a $30,000 difference. Now imagine them going from a V6 3.8 to a V8 6.2 that's going to cost. I would imagine them putting any smaller engine than that in it. I definitely would be happy with a 5.7 liter but I don't see them offering that

For like $95,000 to buy one, maybe more, seems like you could come out better or cheaper dropping a Hellcat in a JT aftermarket. I had a local shop tell me they could probably do it for around $25000-$30000, I would still be under $70,000 total for mine. I'm saving for it, when mine gets out of warranty which will probably be within 3 years based on me having 15,000 miles on mine in 9 months, I'll be seriously considering it.
A hellcat swap for 25-30k? I'd be interested in talking with them at that price.
