I just dump in the 5 qt container and call er good. No real filter amount you have to worry over on these since it’s upside down at the top
Of the engine. I haven’t had any issues. If you’ve changed oil pans or anything like that you may have to add/subtract but if it’s stock unit you should be fine with just the 5.

Just changed this morning. looked about 15minutes later and it was at 1/2 on stick. checked right after making this post and it is full it must take awhile to drain down. thanks for the reply to a too soon post

Yeah - I did my first oil change recently and just dumped in the 5qt jug - after a few minutes it was about half way through the dipstick. I gotta say - stopping at 5 quarts was not something I was used to coming from a V8 Ram …my muscle memory kept telling me I should add a half quart for good measure …I didn’t…

Yeah, these take what feels like forever to drain down, it is nice to just have the 5 qt math though.

Do you crack the filter housing and fill cap while draining? Mine doesn’t take too long once that’s done. I don’t remove completely because lots of wind and dust in the driveway but once the pressure up top is released it flows pretty good.

Oh no I meant drain down like, if you run it a bit then shut it off and want to check the oil it usually won’t show full, but wait a few hours and it will.

Never had issues draining the pan, I don’t open the filter canister but I do pop the dipstick out, same principle I guess.

Would you mind elaborating? Are you adding Sea Foam directly to the oil or are you just talkin'bout from having added it in the fuel tank ?

Yep. Between 150-250 or so miles before oil changes. I don’t run it in there any longer than that. No reason to risk it. Oil is thin enough as it is. Half a bottle in the oil and half in the gas tank. Clean it all up at once. At least that’s the way it works in my head.

Owners manual says to wait 5 minutes after engine shutdown to check oil level.

On my 4th JT and they all have been spot on with 5 quarts at oil change for fill level.

FWIW, the dry fill on the 3.6L is 5.7 quarts. So there is 0.7 quarts that never drains out from each oil change.
