On my 3rd Tazer JL Mini.... Please help

Hey everyone -

Really need your help here, I'm on my 3rd JL Tazer Mini. So far, i'm doing everything correct (correct cable etc), but my PC doesn't seem to pick up the Tazer when connected to the software...

The Tazer blinks green etc

Would really apprecaite any help from anyone..

When I tried to do a manual update with the downloaded file:

It looks like it isn't connecting to the correct Com Port. Did you check device manager to see where it is connecting to?

Try a different USB port. Only one on my laptop works with the tazer.

Like others have said, looks like a communications issue. I would go into device manager, look for the entry for the tazer and delete it. Then disconnect the tazer, reboot pc and then reconnect. This way your PC should rediscover the device and reinstall it. If that doesn’t work, if you know someone with a PC that you can borrow to try it that would also help in troubleshooting. Could be an issue with the USB controller or the software for the USB controller could be corrupted. Process of elimination. Just my 2cents

Thanks, I did this - still doesnt work. And of course, 3 different cables, all ports. I've never had an issue with a COM port... Not sure why the program/software isnt talking to the Device...

My next thought…. Delete (uninstall & delete) the software/program and go to ZAutomotive and download it again. Reboot…etc.

If that doesn’t work, contact ZAutomotive and tell them your situation. It might be related to the Tazer or they’ll have an idea on how to reset it.

thanks, yeah I’ve done this also! It’s my third “Refurbished Tazer”. Could this be why that it’s a refurbished one?

im also incredibly tech savvy and built several PC’s so i know what im doing. But if it’s Tazer Hardware / Software side there’s nothing I can do.

I know this may sound dumb, but is the Tazer plugged into the SGW connectors BEFORE you try this?

Also, after that, make sure the usb is plugged into the Tazer BEFORE opening the app.

I had some similar issues when I first got mine, then I realized you have to be IN THE TRUCK and the Tazer plugged into the SGW connections BEFORE it will connect over USB, THEN the program SHOULD work.

If that doesn't work, uninstall the program. Fully shutdown the PC (it IS a PC and not a Mac, right?) Turn the PC back on, go to the Zauto site and download a fresh copy of their software, and install the fresh copy to your PCs HDD/SDD (not an external source like usb drive). Give it another go and let us know.

thank you! I’ll try these tonight. I did do this before but the jeep didn’t read the Tazer. Like I couldn’t get to the control menu via the radio. Does that make sense?

Also just did the uninstall, restart, and fresh install. Still no luck.

If the Tazer is not working in the Jeep, then there is a problem with it, which is probably also why the PC won't connect to it. Contact where you bought it from for another replacement. This is the risk of buying refurbished electronics. Eventually, they should get you one that works.

You had the "key" show "OFF" before connecting to SGW connectors, correct?

After that, you need the "key" showing "ON" but don't start the engine, then you have to scroll to page 7 (Audio page) and hold the Left Arrow while tapping the cancel button to scroll through Tazer menu.
- Did you do it this way?
