Just picked up our new Gladiator over the weekend. Didn't have a chance to see it before we took delivery. Spec sheet shows '8.4 inch Premium Sound System'. I cant tell if the sound system is the 'Alpine' upgrade. Are the two synonymous (8.4 Premium and Alpine), or is the Alpine an upgrade to the 8.4 Premium?

Where would I look and what am I looking for to determine whether I have the Alpine system? I found a subwoofer behind the rear seat, but everything else looks standard.

Thanks

On your window sticker it will say “9-speaker Alpine” somewhere on the optional equipment list.

Unfortunately, the window sticker had been removed during cleaning, and was not included with our packet. That was the reason for my question.

The ONLY thing my dealership did right, other than the price of my JTR, was that they laminated the window sticker, so I have a permanently saved token from my purchase with my VIN number and options on it, which is pretty cool. Might be a collector's item someday... Especially if I still have my JTR all those years from now...Which I plan on, but you never know what life is going to throw at you.

Another reason I went ahead and bought my JTR, was because the last 4 of the VIN are 1776. And as a patriot, I figured that was pretty cool. So, I guess you could say I have the "Revolutionary Gladiator", especially since it's first-year production for the model. :like:

You can get a PDF file of your window sticker from Jeep. There used to be and I guess there still is a link on this forum somewhere because I got one for mine.

On the Mopar site - go to your garage and the vehicle pictures shows. On the right side of screen is says quick links and there should be a pdf link there to the window sticker. You can also click on the link that says Vehicle Equipment for a listing of all the items that are on the window sticker as well.

Thanks. Found the window sticker. It does say 'Alpine Premium'. Just doesn't perform as well as the Alpine in our Wrangler.

It's subjective but just generally lacking the richness and fullness of sound in the Wrangler. We parked the two vehicles side by side and listened to music from the same Bluetooth source, same song and the difference really is apparent.
I also note that the front speakers in the Wrangler have the Alpine logo but the Alpine name is nowhere apparent in the Gladiator.

I'm guessing Jeep moved to a lesser Alpine system in the Gladiator.

Cab space makes a HUGE difference in how you hear sound. The large echo in the cab of the Wrangler will have more surface area for sound waves to reverberate off of, compared to the Gladiator...Which can lead to a more full sound like a stadium effect. I think mine sounds great. The only Jeep stereo experience I have is my buddy's old 2007 JK, and it was just complete shit. So, to me, my 8.4" Alpine setup in my JTR is phenomenal.

I didn't mean to imply that the 8.4 system in the Gladiator is 'bad', it's not. In fact it's noticeably better than the sound system in my Chevy Silverado (basic). But it clearly isn't as 'top shelf' as the Alpine system which came in the 2017 Wrangler.

Did you try adjusting the bass, mid, and treble?
