My point is that if more of these are having to be repaired and are an issue, I am installing a part that I know is going to fail and wouldn't have a warranty for them. If there were no issue with any of the lockers, I wouldn't give a second thought to replacing the axles.
IIRC, there's a thread over on the JL side detailing where the sensor is and how to seal it up properly before install. There's also a wiring harness that runs just shy of $200 that will override the sensor should you have an issue and not want to deal with it.

Thanks for "talking me off the ledge" on this one. I just couldn't justify installing these axles I purchased of there is a good chance they are going to fail.

Does anyone know the failure rate and/or the years and models impacted?

This happened to me yesterday. Same as others, towing 3500lb travel trailer at 55 mph and all the sudden locker light starts blinking the goes solid. Tried to get it disengage, even disconnect battery for 30 minutes to no avail. Turned around and limped it home and parked it. Called to set up an appointment, though it sounds like this is going to be a mess. Bought the truck last November and it has 5500 miles.

Just happened to me yesterday now as well. Was almost home, driving down the highway when I noticed my rear locker light flashing, along with the light on the center console. Trying to turn off the locker gives me the usual "Rear Axle un-lock in progress" screen for a few seconds and then it disappears. Doesn't seem to stop normal operation of the locker but I've about had it with these flashing lights. No tazer, bone stock excluding a winch and bumper. Sigh... Sounds like I'm gonna be Jeep-less this month.

This thread is really starting to scare me when thinking about my next trip with my travel trailer.

The sensor in my JKR has been wacky for 2 years now. Light in the dash flashes randomly all the time. Locker isn't engaging though. Just a bad sensor. I'm not really interested in pulling the carrier to replace the sensor.

So, if it's just the sensor going bad on yours you can choose to ignore it until they can get you in for a replacement.

It must be in the air. I was towing a 4500 LB trailer yesterday and today my locker light started doing goofy stuff.

Were you towing a trailer?

Dealer looked at it this week. They ordered the parts, unplugged the wiring to the housing, and told me it will be 3-4 weeks before the replacement axle housing arrives. Service advisor knew exactly what I was talking about when I told him the issue. On the bright side, he told me none of the axles they have fixed have been back, so hopefully Dana has this thing figured out.

Got the dreaded locker light in 2H towing a teardrop trailer. It came on while climbing a grade. This is the first time towing w the mopar lift. Towed my SxS many times w NO issues but my utility trailer has no brakes. The teardrop has electric brakes if that matters. Dealer is replacing the rear axle with a new one. Stuck w a rental (Nissan Rogue)!

@gsxr310 , hate to hear you're stuck in a Nissan but at least they're getting you sorted out. Kind of surprised they have you in a rental as rear ends were in short supply last I heard. Mine still hasn't come in and the dealer ordered it over a month ago. I think someone previously stated theirs was ordered with no ETA.

Oh wow! That’s a long time!!! I’ll call them tomorrow and see if they know how long for the delivery.

They told me 3-4 weeks about a week and a half ago. I’m just hoping it’s done before my deer hunt in late October.
