Recall: 1M+ Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator Fire Risk (June 9, 2026)

Called dealer this morning for both Gladiator and JL. Both are going in for inspection this morning at 9:45am. Same day appointment.

2 hours to get vehicle checked in and inspected. Will determine if parts are needed and if so, a second appt will be scheduled when parts arrive once ordered.
Otherwise, if inspection is ok with a thumbs up …. Drive home happy with a hard copy letter from dealer that all is checked out.
We shall see and report back later.

I’m on the schedule for Tuesday at 0730. I knew there would be a little wait as it’s a pretty busy dealership in SoCal. Hopefully I don’t have to change er name from Bandit to Fireball.

Only the dealer can close out the recall tied to a specific vin. No letterhead needed if they inspect and close it out.

The locking tab on mine has a gap, but the wires seem fine.

FYI dealerships are being limited by how many replacement parts they can order at a time(and apparently not 'allowed' to let vehicles that need replacement to leave, gotta provide rentals, etc.), mine is going to be starting a waiting list and systematically working through it.

If it were me, I would call my dealership asap and get it done.

Heck I haven't even called them about my re-occurring check engine light every spring and fall for the last four years

This is where my years of automotive electrical can finally shine. I'll inspect it this weekend if it won't be raining

IDK. Maybe when I get the corrosion on the hood looked at it later this year than can double check the power steering pump behind me...

I just went underneath it's really easy to locate and snap a picture

It's kind of amusing because I took that pic camping. We went with family friends and their 17 year old son told me about the recall at the campfire at night.

My truck was parked under gigantic trees and I'm like oh this would be perfect timing for me to light the entire Forest on fire because of my fucking Jeep LOL

I was upset at first, but I think if it was gonna catch fire it would have by now after 5 years of constant wheeling. Who knows.
