So using the harness…

dismantle it

remove the parts marked in blue

and the essentially make it a extension cable for the parts in green?

edit:

looking a little closer at it it seems like the blue wire would be the limiting factor in just turning it into an extension. I guess I will need to figure out what gauge? Wire that is an add an equal length to match the rest

Essentially correct, but I would leave the fuse and terminal block (blue x) intact for future use.

You'll want to double check once you have the dash opened up, but I believe you would be cutting off the gray plug. Definitely double check though! It's been quite a while since I installed that splitter in my truck so I can't remember for sure.

I think the blue wire is for the oem socket back light which you can ignore.

The red should be +12 and the brown -12

Looking at the instructions it does appear that the gray plug is what would have gone into the factory socket, so that is what you would want to cut off.

I went out in the garage and actually found that I was smarter than myself, and did keep the original plug intact!

Just taking a quick look at the

It looks like if I use 1 1/4” to drill the hole. The OEM connector will fit right into any piece of plastic in or around the dash. Now the question is given the length on the backside of the OEM plug. Where can I cream that behind the dash worth useful, but doesn’t get in the way of the world.

It would probably work. Thats just a lot farther than im hoping to run the wiring.

ideally ill be able to fit it into the dash plastic in or near the passenger side foot well..maybe even adjacent to the glove box.

I installed both a USB and 12V port on the passengers side of the console. I can try to get a pic later today but near the front of the console there is plenty of room for one.

I used the extension mentioned earlier and a plug housing from amazon, sorry cannot remember the ratings and mounted it under the passenger front seat.

Forgot to grab a pic earlier and now rain. Anyway its exactly 2" behind the snap on cover on the side of the console. You can reach up behind it and verify nothing is there on your model. Carpet is puffy there anyway. I originally went to close to the bolt that hold the console and had to plug it and go back another inch.

Well…im at a loss and kinda pissed at my self.

I went ahead and chopped up one of the two harnesses that I got. Figure out where I wanted to put the plug. Pulled the dash apart… cut the hole for my plug… and then once I attached the harness to the existing OEM 12 V plug… Neither harness provides power to the plug…

I have absolutely no idea why I’m getting no power off of the OEM attachment

I ended up using a generic plug I had and wiring it to aux #4 and it works.

Did you check the fuse?

I assume you tested it with the truck in ACC or run?

Yes to all

fuse is good

none gave me power through the harnesses I got. Im just assuming they were both bad…since I can’t figure out anything else

Just curious. I know at this point you're done and it's together, but did you have power at the OEM connector itself? And it just wasn't connecting through the harness?
