2020 Gladiator Rubicon. Granite Crystal. Black Freedom Top & Fenders. Rock Krawler 3” Pro-X No limits Lift,
UPDATE on my Rock Krawler Lift:
Just an FYI on my experiences with this outstanding lift kit.
I have over 7000 miles on my Rock Krawler 3.0 X-Factor No Limits Lift and loving it every time I drive.
I get all kinds of compliments on how the Jeep “Looks” and I’m still riding on OEM MT’s (33”)
The handling and ride comfort is superior. BIG improvement over stock.

NEWS:
Fox has now finally released their 2.5 Shocks with remote and DSC for the rear on the Gladiators with a 3” lift (Part #883-26-074) and I’ll be adding them soon to finally complete the setup for all 4 corners. I added them on the fronts when I installed the lift. Ran El Cheapo Adjustable Ranchos in the rear Only because 1. They were temporary to get the lift kit installed and 2. They were adjustable and just “OK”.

ISSUES WITH KIT:
I had very few issues during install. Instructions were good. I did have to scratch my head on a couple things like disconnecting rear calipers to get enough droop for spring install and disconnecting driveshaft on front axle to get enough droop up front as well but not much more.
After install I checked alignment myself and thought all was good. Had to recenter steering wheel to get rid of disabled traction control light. Computer in Jeep doesn’t like the steering wheel being off center by too much.
I also had a squeak coming from the rear and was annoying. I had Plasti Dipped my springs red to match all the RK parts I painted Red and that may have contributed to the squeaking. Luckily I save my OEM springs and the rear set had these blue Isolators on them so I had an Ah Haaa moment and removed them from the OEM springs and put them on the RK’s and squeak is GONE. YAY!

Another problem I had was excessive front tire wear on the inside edges, smoked ‘em in about 10K miles but was my own dumb fault. I “THOUGHT” I had the correct toe in setting. I rechecked after I found my tires were shot only to find out they had way too much toe out hence excessive inside edge wear.
I rotated the tires by swapping rears for fronts and set the toe in to 1/8” using and expandable bar set to the front edge spacing locking that distance in and then moving it to the Rear Edge and checking until I had a 1/8” gap.
Lesson learned The hard way. Would have been cheaper to get an alignment check but I thought I did it right. DUH. Now I know a better way to check it.
With toe in set correctly now it handles and steers ultra smooth. Images that? LOL
Getting 2 replacement tires this morning and having them CHECK THE ALIGNMENT!!!!

Enjoy your RK Lift Kit and Jeep.
Ride on!

Can you post a pic I will like to see how the jeep looks with 33s, as I am looking to do a lift but dont know if I want to do it now by itself or just wait until I get tires and further down the road.

Page 58 here has a pic of a blue one with 33’s

I’ll go to 35’s MAYBE but not until the OEM’s are toasted and I have $$$$ to change gearing to a higher ratio. I read I don’t need to but I like to have the pick up n go when needed and make full use of all 8 gears since I paid for ‘em. Might as well be able to use em all And help MPG’s and performance.

I finished installing the lift today. I started yesterday afternoon and finished this evening. I pretty much completed it all myself with a couple of floor jacks and a couple of sets of jack stands. Next up, new wheels and tires!

Matt,

Your rig looks great with the lift. What is your height to the top of the roof now with the stock 33 inch tires? Do you still have a slight rake toward the front?

Thanks,
Chris

is there a rear cradle that is compatible with the MOPAR 2" lift? The description says it is for a 3-5" lift. I have the mopar kit installed already and would like to add this rearend cradle to my setup.

Yes and no. Yes, it will physically fit but will require 3" of bumpstop to prevent the upper arms from hitting the evap cannister and the muffler. The limited uptravel from 2" springs may be something you're ok with or it may not, that's your call.

So I just finished my 3" RK lift and just like everyone said....it drives better than new. When I was done I adjusted the drag link to center the steering before I went on a test drive and it felt perfect and the steering wheel was straight as an arrow. Went to pull it into the garage a couple of hours later and I got a service airbag sensor light come on. B0020-13 (left side airbag deployment control). I cleared it with my reader and it comes back when I put it in gear to move it every time. I can't think of anything I did wrong, no wires pinched or nothing out of the ordinary. Only thing I can think of is maybe I turned the steering wheel too far and did an extra rotation. But my wheels are straight and I can turn 1 1/2 turns of the wheel left and 1 1/2 turns to the right befor it hits the stops so I think I'm good. Am I missing something? Is this just random or could I just have horrible timing with a light coming on right after the lift? Thanks for any ideas or suggestions before I take it to the dealer and have to argue to fix it under warranty after a lift.

That's a new one, run back through the hardware and make sure there aren't any wires pinched anywhere. If your steering wheel has 1.5 turns to each side, it is centered and if it wasn't you'd see traction control lights as well. You couldn't have broken the clock spring as the steering column wasn't disconnected from the box and the box is the physical limitation to spinning the wheel too far.

I honestly think it is just lousy timing but it is worth double checking the hardware first.

Update: Cleared the code 3 times, turned off the ignition and did a short little drive each time before the Airbag light would come back on. Sometimes it would come on before I made it out of the driveway. The fourth time I cleared it, unplugged the battery and let it sit over night. In the morning the light never came on and I've driven it 4 times for about 20 miles total. Crossing my fingers but really strange. I also checked all of the airbag connections under the seat and looked for any pinched or disconnecting wiring under the Jeep where I worked. All looked good. So I think I just had horrible timing that threw me for a loop. Thanks for the help!

Curious if anyone else had any squeaking coming from the rear end when doing light stretching? Any tips or tricks? I made sure the springs were seated correctly when installing and it’s quiet on the road but I’m getting some squeaking when just going over speed bumps or curbs. Only about 100 miles on it so I’m hoping it might settle in.

Have you greased the rear sway bar links?

Great question.....I was going through putting some grease in all the zerk fitting and saw that it only took a tiny bit before it started coming out. I thought I read somewhere that they were pregreased so I probably stopped after greasing the control arms and other fittings. I'm going to run out to the truck now and make sure the sway bar links are all greased up. Sometimes it's the simplest of things..... Thanks!

All the control arms and track bars are pre greased and ready to run, the sway bars are not. If they're dry, they'll make noise.

That's exactly what it was! I stopped greasing after I read the the zerk fittings were pregreased and "assumed" all the zerk fittings were greased. You know what happens when you assume.....you get squeaks. All better now, thanks!
