“And - you can't easily remove the bolts. At least on mine, there were retainer clips up in the mount that prevented me from completely removing bolts! They were completely unthreaded but no matter what I did short of a puller of some sort, they'd not come clear out.
That's likely a factory assembly thing - bolts get inserted, stay in place due to clips, body dropped on, bolts screwed in?”

So how did you finally get the bolts out? Some sort of puller.

I had Rock Hard sliders installed on my Mojave in 2023 and instead of using the new bolts with the kit they re-used the factory bolts.

In 3 years the sliders looked so rusty that I took it to my dealers body shop to see if they could get them powder coated at the same time they were painting/fixing the areas where steel met aluminum.

Most of the bolts came out fine except the 2 in the front. They loosened but would not come out.

So they just lowered them, prepped and painted the sliders. (No charge)

I’m seriously considering the RSE as a replacement in the future and wondered the best way to remove all the bolts.

Also has anyone from Ohio had serious rusting on their Rockslide engineering step/sliders?

I contacted Rock Hard about getting new bolts… and they sent a install kit with all bolts and fastener no charge.

Nothing serious here! And the freakin AIR is hazardous here, lol... even my aluminum pits... damn salty air.

Guys, I was able to loosen all the body bolts and get the step sliders installed! Decided to create a video for it (to help others) as I couldn't find one out there doing the process that you guys explained to me.

I heated the bolts to about 300F. They were still a bit tough to remove EXCEPT for the front passenger bolt that I accidentally heated to about 325F. That one came out so easy that I thought that the bolt sheered off (it didn't!).

By the way

Thanks for all the details to help me get over my nerves on doing this!
