I think about this every time I take the doors off and have to carry them across the stupid yard.
It's a great idea!
Make it look professional, but more important, make it operate easily. Otherwise you won't use it.
Personally, I tend to look past the cargo when evaluating the aesthetics of a vehicle.
As always, post pics, or make a video...
We all wanna see!

One more thing to consider: If you have the doors upright in the bed they will be blocking the rear view mirror. This will require you to have aftermarket side mirrors to put on where the doors were in order to be legal. Most states allow you to run without side mirrors, but no state allows you to be without side mirrors if the center rearview is obstructed.

Since the side mirrors are on the doors and the doors are now in the way of the rearview, you're in a bit of a pickle.

Laying them down in the bed, though, still remains viable!

Put this on a pivot so the doors can be loaded/unloaded vertically, then rotated down and laid flat in the bed. I can only imagine the stress of trying to load them onto pins in the down position!

Thinking something like this. They would be attached with a way to slide the hinges into the bed side and have some sort of foam between the doors and under the bottom door for support. Excuse my amazing use of CAD.

How thick are the doors? I don't think you can stack all 4 without exceeding the bed depth.

What about this:

Rear doors lengthwise across the back of the bed
Front doors slid on an angled rack, bottom of door at the front of the bed behind the cab.

That might minimize the awkwardness of everything sticking out of the bed.

Already found 1 of 2 needed storage centers near the kids. That seems the best answer.

Okay. I live in Florida. I live in Melbourne travel to st augustine and tampa. So a lot of hwy where i want doors on. Then locally i want doors off. Kids dont have garages. So when i visit i cant really take the doors off

My stupid idea (please tell me how stupid this is)
Build a slider bed rack that holds each door
(Standing upright on a rubber bed & attached at the door hinge to a brace) i have drawn it out. It looks like it would all fit.
No off roading (sandy beach only) and no highway.
The freedom top panels would fit also.

Please tell me this is a horrible idea.
I wouldn't Do I T in a Million Years and I don't have that much time left !

I would say, take your off road doors with you. but when you take off the regular doors, leave them locked up inside the house, on the patio or whatever. In and out of the bed of the truck sounds like an invitation for disaster. Carry touch up paint. I take my doors off all the time, but where ever I take them off, I return to re-install them. I use a cable lock to secure them to something, trees usually.

Why can’t you put the doors in the kids house since they don’t have a garage?

It's a horrible idea.

but only because I think it would look silly. I want to do the same thing though. I'm in an apartment in Orlando and I bring my doors and top into the hallway in our place. Not ideal. I am seriously thinking on going Bestop two piece fabric doors to be able to just chuck them in the bed lying on top of one another under my tonneau cover. its about $1200 but much convenience.

Fabric Doors
I'm not sure whether they have improved these doors for the JT/JL but the ones I had on my JKU sucked ass. Good for emergencies but the faster you drive, the further the top half of the front doors pull away from the Jeep. If it's pouring rain, you have to hold them closed by hand or rig up some strap.

For anyone still considering this, you might be able to do something with the Offroad Gladiator Freedom Panel Rack. offroadgladiator.com. I don't know anything about them. Just saw an ad while I was scrolling....

You think too complicated...
- Leave the doors at your place
- buy ear buds and a motorcycle rain combo
- drive without doors.
Have been doing this in a lotus super seven for years because I am too lazy to put the fabric roof on.....

Makes me want to design my own tube doors where the outer frame is solid with a panel in the middle that could be removed that would be essentially flat. The 4 flats could just be laid in the bed with minimal effort. A soft top style window on the top of the removeable panel with a zipper. Something like this, dashed line being the center slide down section. Anyone got 1/2 a million bucks to start making them?
