Similar issues in my 2021 JTR. Spotty reception and the songs skip far too frequently. I'm only using SXM for now because it's free but I haven't found the stations to be worth the annoyance of the spotty reception and glitchy playback. It's the only vehicle that I've noticed the issue on. My GMC, Honda, and Toyota vehicles have been fine.

So I'm guessing the answer is "no" as to if someone has done something different that improves reception?

I ready to pull my hair out !! I have a 2021 Jeep gladiator and the SiriusXM reception really sucks. I’ve had satellite radio since 2003 in many cars and trucks but the reception in my Gladiator is the worst. Even if I’m driving on a road with trees on both side not hanging over the center of the road the SiriusXM cuts out. I have 2 friends one with a 2020 Jeep Wrangler and hers cuts out too and another friend with a 2019 Jeep Wrangler and his sucks too. I believe it’s definitely the placement of antenna on top of the sound or roll bar. Satellite antenna’s should definitely be on the outside of the vehicle. I understand why Jeep installs the antenna in this location so you can remove the tops but there has to be a better placement Jeep can come up with. I read about that someone used an aftermarket SiriusXM antenna but then the back up camera didn’t work. Anybody move there SiriusXM antenna to another location with any success? Please share your thoughts. Thanks.

I've thought of putting a roof mount antenna on the hardtop. I'll likely never remove the back half anyway. I had way better reception on my TJ.

I live in WA state & never had good luck w/ XM radio- satellite signal is frequently obscured by trees, terrain in any new vehicle so equipped that I got. This is not a new problem for most living in the Northern US. I use it when on long trips, to the east or south but rarely when commuting. BTW where is the XM antenna?

Add me to the list. Its horrible, even when driving in areas where there is no coverage, my 2016 ram had 0 issues unless going beside a mountain etc, the satellite radio in my gladiator is almost unusable its horrible4, between the skipping and the actual "acquiring signal" it makes no sense.

i wont pay for renewal either.

'21 here with Alpine. I only lose reception when I'm driving next to a very tall rock cut in the roadway (earth interference) but my complaint is the audio. SXM audio is terrible compared to FM on this head unit. What's up with that? FM has good bass and thick sound in the mid range. SXM sounds like it's inside a tin can. I mean, it's not horrible but it's noticeably worse than the audio when I'm tuned FM.

Got a '20 Alpine, and I do have occasional issues, but it's no different from any of the other vehicles I have had.
One note I'll add is on mine, it's constantly storing music on your preset channels. For example, When I go to a present channel, it would always start at the beginning of a song. Starting looking into it deeper and it was doing this for every present music channel. I confirmed this by hitting the 'replay' button and it would not be live, giving me a selection of "go live". If you wanted to listen to the song again, you can. However, once you go to the next present channel that would be lost. Why do I say all of this? Well, for me it would cut out at random times when I knew it was clear. I was really getting tired of it, then I had a Gru Lightbulb moment. I was getting the "cutoffs" because I was listening to a recorded (and not live) and it was space out b/c it didn't get a signal when I was in a place that didn't get signal when recording. This did provide a little less service than previous because I get cutouts like this, and at true signal losses, but it sure is nice when doing a scroll through presets it would always start a new song. Pretty cool huh?
I didn't see this it in the manual, but did find the 'replay' section in the manual (Page 432)

OP, do you have a hard top or soft top? I have a soft top, and I'm not noticing any severe reception issues.

We hear you - even if Sirius/XM doesn't.
Used it for the free year and got frustrated every time it cut out when you weren't riding on the highway free of -ALL- obstructions. Brought back all of the irritation I felt in 2011 when i bought my last new vehicle with a free year of Sirius/XM.
It's 2021 people, the iPhone came out in 2010, is getting ready to release version 13 in September and Sirius/XM tech has not improved at all in 11 years!
Needless to say, I did not renew when my trial when it expired.
Bought a wireless carplay adapter for $89 - plugged it into the USB inside the center console and purchased a spotify premium subscription. All is well. Spent about $20 less for a year of music and my annual cost going forward is $120 less per year. 2021 Wireless CarPlay Adapter...
