Did he get out a tape measure or what? I'm surprised that your jeep would be >80" wide - over 7" wider than stock
when i first measured in my garage, sidewall lug to side wall lug. It was roughly 78. This dude just "paces" my truck. heel to toe, 7-8 steps. told me it was too many steps therefore too wide. I'm not gonna argue that. Just give me my tickets.

yeah I'm guessing homie would not be amicable to debate over the measurement accuracy of his foot steps. There is no way that would hold up in court if you chose that route. Might be worth the $ spent on marker lights to not have that conversation again, but at 78" you are in no way required to have them.

I don't know if that juice is worth the squeeze. Judge could feel the same way as the trooper. Something about being in 20s with nice shit makes a surprising amount of older people salty. Imagine wasting time in a courthouse and then still having to pay tickets. VA is anti modded anything with wheels. Odds are I'll get nailed with more shit if the Judge even finds out i got an aftermarket antenna, much less any of the other shit. My buddy got jail time and community service for a speeding ticket 55 in a 40. The local PD even bragged about it on their FB, pics of him and impounding his bike. Bro was just cruising and missed the speed limit sign. Hell, I've gotten a warning for not dismounting my bike while fueling up. I see people bending rules everyday, but somehow when i do it. Law Enforcement spawns out of thin air to make sure I tow that line.

I definitely understand. There are a couple spots in SC and NC that are like that. If you ever go to Gulches after a rain, it is very muddy. And it's red clay. The only way you can really get it off is with a pressure washer. And as much as I don't like pressure washers, have no choice. Well, the only pressure washer locations is about 10 miles away. So, you really have no choice. And when you have mud in your tires, wheels, and rotors, your wheels are unbalanced and your jeep is all over the place. It sucks.

The good thing is that Gulches get so much business and the cops pretty much know how that place gets after a rain that they don't bother you. It sucks that happened to you though.
You do know that the Gulches has an area to wash off your vehicle, right? Because of the mud issues on the road, Skip put it in and the new owners have made it a requirement that you wash off unless it's on a trailer. The mud on the roadway is also a reason they close when rain is predicted.

Now that the parking lot has been graveled, things are not as bad.

you may be right. this could have gone sideways for your lack of "compliance". think about it. you get cuffed, stuffed in a cruiser, hauled off to the pokey and then get your buttocks sent to sit on the Group W bench. all of those relegated there are the worst of the worst. mother rapers. father rapers. rampant litterbugs. a horrific collection of ne'er do wells.

exactly. As I've been told by my old coworkers in construction, I'm far too pretty for jail.

I saw OP is in Virginia. First they tax you up the wahoo every year, just to own a vehicle. And I've heard horror stories about the State Police. You could have avoided all the above by just.... riding a horse.
I live ten minutes from Virginia and have family who live there and I avoid going to Virginia as much as possible because of the police who seem to just wait on out of state people. I have been lucky so far but hear stories about people being pulled over for any and everything. I thought a city cop was going to ticket me for my factory exhaust on the Hellcat Challenger I had when I unluckily backed in beside him at a high school baseball game. He was in an unmarked Exploder and beat me out of the vehicle to ask about the exhaust and looked at the window tint.

Depends who you ask
state highway patrol. i don't even know if he's allowed to ticket on the blueridge parkway. but he did.
Yes I understand state police but do you know what county you received the ticket? Blue Ridge runs through a few. Most are rural and it’s kind of surprising he’s such a dick in a rural area.

They should remove qualified immunity as a 1st step to getting them to realize they aren't above the laws and they damn sure don't make them up as they go.
I'd suggest you do some research on what Qualified Immunity actually is. The keyword there being qualified.

Do they go to jail when they recklessly discharge firearms at innocent people like you or I would? Nope. They get paid leave and at worst lose their job and that is the problem.

Like what is the actual fine for this ticket? Does it count as point against your driving record to affect your insurance?

They only get away with it if you let them. Your choice to fight it or not, but I have had decent luck fighting bullshit PA state vehicle tickets in their court system. It is not always "rigged" and a good chance it could get dismissed.
