Hello, for those who have used sound deadening products on the floors, doors, and back wall how much did it help? Do you have decibel measurements?
I already have the hot head liner but thinking of doing the whole cabin as we are planning many more road trips.

Picture for your time.

I’ve been looking at https://soundskinsglobal.com/ for the doors. Has anyone used these?
I also have hot head liners and the sound assassin strips on the roof. I’ll eventually do the floor when I get prp seats.

I have the hot head liners w/ sound assassin strips. Def makes a difference regarding heat. Not sure about noise.

Also ended up doing the floor with sound-deadening/insulating material, similar to Sound Skin. No noticeable difference in sound but I’m hoping for cooler temps come July.

I mostly did these for my upcoming trip to Moab this summer.

The best upgrade I’ve done so far was doing a ceramic tint on my front door windows. Makes a world a difference! Hoping to do a clear film on my windshield before my trip.

People have been raving about the Coverking hardtop liner. It enables them to add insulation across the entire top and cover that with the liner. Looks better than OEM. I just couldn’t bring myself to spend $400 just on the liner (now $420).

Just a heads up but if you wear polarized glasses you’ll see that rainbow effect through your windshield after tinting it.

I’m actually a little disappointed that it doesn’t do as much for sound. Kinda defeats the whole purpose for me.

That’s great to know…thank you!!
I had it done (ceramic on all windows, clear on the windshield and 20% everywhere else, including the rears that were already tinted) and found it was game changing regarding the heat in the summer here in Central Texas. The rainbow effect is a bit annoying at first, but I got used to it quickly. The difference between my JTR and my wife's JLUR (no tint) is huge. (She doesn't want tint <shrug>).

I've not done sound deadening outside of the Hot Heads with the sound assassin strips, but those did make a pretty big difference in cabin road drone/wind noise.

Another one for ceramic tint. Definitely worth it for heat. I did 70% on the rear and 20% on the front. I also did 70% on the windshield as well and you can't even tell it's tinted. Yes, you will get a rainbow effect but after a couple weeks you won't even notice it. People will balk at the price of quality ceramic tint but it really does work. You have to put your hand about 1-2 inches to the glass to feel any kind of heat.

OP your best bet is probably armorlite flooring which does stop sound.

And is comfortable to the feet. A pain to install.

This was the exact thread I came across the most recently. Very helpful!!

Coverking offers the most coverage and bc you can add sound proofing across the entire top, it offers the most reduction in sound and temp!!
I agree. If you read that thread, one of the guys actually measured the sound levels and reported (I think) a 6dB drop which is quite significant. I've done the same in my Gladiator but my readings got messed up so I won't quote them....however, it stands to reason that:
A) Sound deadening does work
B) Covering the whole hard top should do more than covering only part of it.

While I can't quote proper numbers from a decibel meter, I can definitively say that my stereo dial is easily 4 or 5 less than it was before when driving down the highway. Counts for something I suppose.

Also, as another option for the 2024 Wrangler they're now placing foam in the windshield frame to cut down on wind noise. I'm sure we will be able to track down these pieces shorty and retrofit to ours. It shouldn't be too much of a hassle to add them if they're truly just foam inserts.

This may have swayed me to get the windshield done before I leave.

I remember drive through Kansas last July. The sun just hurt…
