So thinking of going 315/70r17 tires, with AEV Saltas, the Saltas have a slight different offset from stock.

have Rubicon with the 285/70r17.

so if go the 315s with saltas, any issue keeping The stock spare tire? Will cause issues if use the spare since different size tire and wheel offset? If can use what is max miles and speed to be safe, until can get flat tire repaired and put back on?
Thanks.

You'd be fine for the trip to the nearest tire store, especially if the flat is on the rear. I wouldn't go waiting days to get it fixed though.

It's just a spare. Get where you're going, then change it out.

Not sure how it works on a Jeep, but I know in my SS Camaro this would be a no-go. Aside from the limited slip rear end not liking it, the car would notice that one of the tires is spinning faster than the rest and trigger ABS / traction control events thinking there is a loss of traction on that corner. Specifically on my car, it looks for the differences front vs rear, and the tire different had to be within 3/4" to keep the system happy.

I'd keep a matching size spare, even if its on the stock steel wheel.

Pretty sure disabling traction control would eliminate this issue (if it even was an issue on the JT).

I suggest getting a fifth wheel and matching tire and setting up a five-tire rotation. Then you get an extra 10K out of the set and never have to worry about mismatched tire size.

Call tire shops and find a used 315 for a spare. I did this when I went from stock Sport S size to Rubicon size and got a nice General Grabber for $65.

EDIT: Well it just occurred to me that it might not be possible to mount a 315 tire on the stock 7.5" wheel.

When I went to 35's on my 2020, I just bought cheap steel 8.5" width rim and some cheap off brand new tire of the same size and had it mounted and installed.

You really do not know if you need to get a mile down the road on a spare or a couple hundred. Better to have something the same size as a spare.

I did something similar. I bought a rim on marketplace for $50. Almost look like mine. And then just bought an extra tire which are the exact size as mine.
