2022 JT overland tire size on door sticker (stock) 255/70R 18" spare 245/75R 17??? Sure enough actual Stock tires SAME?? Must be to fit under, probably only should use spare for a spare, short use? No wonder dealers don't rotate spare! Interesting owned since July 23 leftover new at that time, never noticed that difference on door sticker before and yes my stock spare is that size.

Figured dealer swappede spares glad I didn't call and give them hell!! LOL

Go Jeep!!!

Most vehicle I have owned recently the spare is a different size. Even my 2020 Ram 1500 Limited had a goofy spare.

You don't want to run a spare of a different size on a solid axle vehicle.
As for the five tire rotation, Jeeps come with 4 nice pretty aluminum wheels and one utilitarian steel wheel.

Lunentucker.... I agree but that's not what my JT tire spec sticker says and my stock spare is as above IS 245/75 17" smaller! That's the standard size spare from Jeep!

My JL spare stock is same size as all others! That's why I started this thread cuz all 2 axles should have same size tires! Not so on JT's I guess, thats why I said a short trip spare?? Yes a ulitarian spare but 17" not 18" like all the other fancy aluminum ones!! I'd say a mistake except for the door jamb tire spec sticker it says spare different than other wheels!!

I've never owned a Jeep with different size spares and I've owned 27?? #28 JTO has a different size spare and spec sticker agrees??

It is a ~12 revolution per mile difference in size.

Saves Jeep a few bucks I suppose? After all it’s a. Spare, gets ya home then you can repair/replace !

however my build sheet says “full size spare” so that’s untrue!

Go Jeep!!!

I still wonder where this myth came from. My 89 cherokee had a donut spare and solid axles from the factory. Ifs and solid axles both have spider gears and neither one cares if the tires are the same size. You don't want to run a different sized spare with the lockers on or with a limited slip in the rear. Even if you're super paranoid about it, put the donut/mismatched tire on the passengers front and thanks to the fad it doesn't even spin the spider gears. If it didn't work how on earth are millions of vehicles on the road rocking donuts or mismatched tires?

I've got a '22 overland, too... best purchase I made for it was buying a set of take-off Mojave rims/wildpeak tires- took a hit on gas mileage but looks and drives much better in winter...

I was always wondering what to do about the spare-- (thinking it was 18" to match the stock overland wheels) guess I don't have to wonder any more!

Yup. If you were running a welded diff or something then I could see it being a problem but the wheels have the ability to spin at different speeds so it’s a non-issue.

As I said it’s probably for fitting under the rig? Wonder how factory JTs with oversized tires fit? This thread was done to point out something I think strange is the only reason. Things don’t matter I still have a “full size spare from the factory that’s a different size, just interesting.

Thejeepster, hope your wildpeaks work ok, I had a set of wildpeaks on my JLS totally worn at 35 k miles! Rotated as recommended too?

Full size doesn't mean identical. It's on a cheap steel wheel like every other modern truck so even if it was the same size you wouldn't want to do 5 tire rotations.

Working fine, I got them last fall for $1000 for the set of four mounted on the original rims, had under 1k miles on them--- (was cheaper than buying snow tires, and got the mojave rims as a bonus!)

Wasn't sure what to expect- granted, we didn't have a bad winter.. but did get some ice storms, etc which had the roads in a terrible state- the gladiator w/ the wildpeaks pulled thru fine.. Just pulled them off and put the original wheels/tires back on a week and a half ago.. getting better gas mileage now--- but, I like the looks of the glad with the mojave rims/wildpeaks better... looking forward to September/October when I can swap them in again - :)

If anyone has the original tires/rims on a base sport or overland, I'd really keep your eyes pealed for some take-off rims from guys here upgrading the rims/tires on their rubi's or mojave's... can get a sweet deal.

My 2020 overland with stock 255/70R18 wheels/tires came with a 17" spare - caught me by surprise. I purchased a brand new full size for $125 with new stock 255/70/r18 tire on it on ebay and use that as my spare. It fits underneath in the spare tire holder no problem.
