I lifted my 2021 sport s". The wife is having trouble getting in using the factory running boards. I am new to off roading but have no interest in rock crawling. I'll be doing beach and dirt trails. I would love to get the rock slide power steps but it's not in my budget. How much will nerf bars affect my off road capabilites? Any suggestions on brand model would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Those look like they are the same height as my stock running bards. I need something lower that will help my wife climb up. There are lots of nerf bar options but I am afraid they will cause issues on the trail.

N-fab has a set that you can unbolt the steps off of for the trails. I have been considering the metalcloak sliders with flip steps for mine.

you are looking at angle down rails then. Don't do Nerf style, just do a good angle down.

I just swapped out my rock rails for the mopar tubular steps. Spouse approved for easier entry.

I apologize for my ignorance but what are angle down rails?
A rock slider where the tube is angled down and away from the body. Though, you should find someone local who has some so they can be tested. Maybe not low enough, maybe too slick for your liking. If angled down won't work and factory boards are too high you may need to do nerf.

Unfortunately those don't look much lower then the factory boards. My wife had medical issues which slightly limit her mobility. I am just afraid the the nerf bars will be an issue on the trail. I won't be rock crawling so I am not sure how much of a negative a solid set of nerf bars will be. Not sure there is a really good answer for what I am looking for.

Nerf bars can be problematic on the trail yes. Then you're looking at carrying a step stool or spending some loot on motorized steps like Rock Slide Engineering's which are in the $2300 range before tax and install.

This is what I was afraid of. The rock slides are above my budget but they are probably the right solution so I may just have to do it. I can handle the install myself so at least I'll save on that.

Or navigate around the few obstacles you may (key word is may) encounter that the Nerf would hang on. Because those sliders will be a fraction of the price. But not great as sliders.
