Most likely it was taken by a repeater device that can listen to your key fob and repeat the same signal inside the truck. I'm so sorry this happened.

I have an airtag hidden with its speaker disabled in my JT, probably won't help recover it, but it might, if this every happens.
i find it funny that garage door openers with rolling codes are more secure than key fobs.

Hello Everyone,

I've been reading these forums since before I bought my truck, and I'm beyond disappointed that my first post is on this topic. I bought my Mojave brand new at the end of November and absolutely loved it. Had a JL before that, but really wanted the versatility of the pickup. On Saturday, I went outside to load up the truck to head to some family parties, but my truck was gone. I've filed the police report, insurance claims for both auto and renters (for the property inside) and have also contacted SiriusXM Guardian who are trying to get a ping on it this week. If I had to bet, it's gone forever, probably in a shipping container oversees, with all GPS tech disabled. It's been 3 days and I still really can't believe it. I had just made my first payment on it 2 days prior to it disappearing.

I wanted to post for a few reasons. First, to raise the awareness. I had read a few posts here about stolen trucks, and of course I had heard about all the Kias and Hyundais getting stolen over the recent years, but of course I figured it was still such a slim chance that it could happen to me. Then it did. I don't know how it was taken. Could have been a cloned key fob, they could have popped the latches on my hood to disable electrical components, or they could have towed it for all I know. I've read a ton of info in the last 3 days, and I will 100% be increasing security on my next vehicle. Sadly, as much as I want to replace my JT, I'm afraid that it would be targeted again, since it was taken from my home. Very scary thought. May have to settle for another vehicle for now until we think about moving.

I'd also like to hear any thoughts or feedback if I'm missing any steps that could help my situation. Whether that's helping to locate my truck, preventative measures I can take next time, or tips for negotiating a Final Loss value with my insurance. Again, it was BRAND NEW, so I am extremely stressed that I will lose money in this process. I know that the vehicle depreciated when I drove it off the lot, but I am hoping to not be stuck way behind the 8 ball when having to replace it. if anyone has been through this process, I'd appreciate any insight. My saving grace is that I got such a great deal on it with all the incentives in November, plus negotiating. But still, I am worried that the valuation will be low, assessing it as a "slightly used" vehicle. So far, insurance has been helpful, but I know those conversations are right around the corner.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have the Tazer. I enabled the hood switch to activate the alarm and programmed the pin that must be entered to drive away after you start the truck. I also put an Airtag in the vehicle.

It would deter a tow truck from rolling up, scooping up a vehicle, and driving off...

All the electronic countermeasures are fine and dandy, but the steering on these JT's does not lock, and a quick pull back on the transfer-case lever frees it up to roll...
With the theft issues we have in Canada where mine was stolen the electronic deterrents aren’t stopping anything either sadly.

Everybody recommends a Club. Steering wheel clubs are easy to cut. I prefer Pedal Jacks that lock the brake pedal up (and the clutch pedal in my case). The clutch and brake pedal are heavier steel and harder to cut as well as it is pretty awkward to use a hand saw in the foot well. Pedal Jacks are built a lot heavier than a Club as well.

I combine that with a Faraday pouch for the fob, locking gas cap, and Bolt hood lock. I guess one could buy a 'boot' from the suppliers of city parking enforcement?

The Pedal Jack may be just enough to send them on down the street looking for easier prey, like a KIA.

Due to the GINORMOUS key FOB, any recommendations on a faraday pouch/box I could use when out and about? I have a box I keep the key in at home, while the Gladiator is in the garage. Would like something to carry and put in when in a restaurant or at ju-jitsu class.

I presume you did this? Where/ which circuit did you interrupt?
I did do this, and it has worked fine since installed.
There are many circuits that would work, I pulled the starter relay every night for a few weeks until I got the kill switch installed.
Some folks interrupt the "press brake to start" switch.
Some folks interrupt the "push to start" signal.

Hellcat owners have these same problems.
Check out the Ram and Charger forums, they have the same theft issue and pretty much the same wireing.

Check out this video on how this guy put a kill switch in a Dodge Charger.

I feel for you. This seems to be happening more and more.
I will add my advice.

KILL SWITCH, KILL SWITCH, KILL SWITCH.

I don't know why everyone doesn't have one.

Even if they clone your key fob, it won't start unless they find your very well hidden hidden kill switch.
I think most need a very detailed electronic diagram and a true and tried way to wire the switch... hiding it can be left to the imagination, but we need solid install instructions.... or atleast I do... lol

I've been thinking of just bending over and dropping the coin for the Ravelco... but the thought of something so intrusive being tapped into my wire harness scares me a little.

If they want it, they will come and take it. Kill switch,... then they just lift it onto a trailer. This is not opportunity, they follow a shopping list...

I bought these, but found a 2 pack for less than $10. They work great.

Faraday Bag for Key Fob (2 Pack), TICONN Faraday Cage Protector - Car RFID Signal Blocking, Anti-Theft Pouch, Anti-Hacking Case Blocker (Carbon Fiber Texture) https://a.co/d/c1ewco1

Choice of size and a little cheaper.

I have the 3.5" x 5.5"

Baltimore here as well. Sorry to hear this happened to you. Have you checked with neighbors to see if any of them have security cameras that may have caught the hoodlums on video?

For theft deterrents, consider getting security cameras installed for the front and back areas where you live. I lease the house I'm in, but I bought and installed a system myself. It records all movement and sound 24/7 and I can pull it up on my phone and see what's going on at any time. Even allows me to speak or yell at anyone or anything as well. Wyze is the manufacturer of the system I have. Wouldn't hurt to look into getting floodlights that are motion activated too. Light up the entire block like the sun is out in the middle of the night - no criminal wants to be seen!

I'm wondering if someone possibly "tagged" your Gladiator when you had it parked somewhere and they scoped out the area you live in for a few days to figure out the best time frame to grab it. I've read about that being a new tactic for car thieves.

Get gap insurance every time you buy a new vehicle, and most times when you buy a used one.

I'll disagree with this. Don't pay more than the stupid thing is worth is the better choice. gap pays the lender not you. Same thing with PMI. If you need PMI on your mortgage, you shouldn't be buying that property.
Also, GAP is dependent upon the details of your purchase ... if you put enough down you don't need GAP Insurance... dependent upon your down payment, its even illegal for some states to sell it to you.

When adding kill switch, avoid placing it anywhere near the center dash as it can be easily ripped out.

Right, and gap just helps cover anything you may owe, not the gap between market value and purchase price.

Worried that may have been the case. Hopefully I end up finding something from a nearby camera. Been working on it.
