This sucks. I can't believe with those massive issues, FCA is not doing much. At this rate, they will lose to Ford soon.
When has FCA beat Ford at anything? Customer service included.

So-update on mine. I went to the dealership this morning and sat for 2 hours. The tech comes out and tells me they can’t recreate the problem but that they have “topped off” the battery charge but the batteries are good. So they also “recalibrated” the ESS system and he thought that should do it but I was welcome to leave it for them to do some more testing and they could give me a loaner. I said “So you really didn’t fix anything and you don’t know why it’s doing this and you don’t know if it will do it again. So why would I leave it?” With that I left in my Gladiator. I drove home and talked with my wife and we agreed that we can no longer trust the vehicle and want to start the buy back process. So I wrote an email to the Service Manager saying just that. I got in the vehicle to go to a 3pm appointment and the X?#^!! truck threw the ESS light again. I was livid-cancelled my 3pm and drove 30 miles straight to the dealership with the ESS light on. I got to the dealership and the Service Manager has the gall to imply that the reason I got the light again was because I didn’t leave the Gladiator at the dealership for them to do more testing. He didn’t even go out to look at the ESS light on. Then this well intentioned young lady had the gall to put me in a minivan type thing. I was now livid x 2. I called the General Manager who said he was sorry and he would make it right. He said he would call me back within the hour. He did call me back. I am now sitting at the dealership signing paperwork on my 2nd Gladiator. Everything is the same except it’s silver not red and hopefully doesn’t have a CEL and ESS issue. They gave me the mark down for my payments and are going to transfer over my aftermarket hitch and bed cover.

I just don't understand why more of these have not been fixed. I had all the same issues with misfire codes, rough idle, CEL, Start/stop system light etc starting at 250 miles. They fixed mine after about 26 days in the shop with a complete top end replacement on the 2/4/6 cylinder side. I have not had the software update everyone is talking about. I've had mine back from the shop for over two weeks and have driven it about 1000 more miles without any problems. Additionally Chrysler is giving me a free extended warranty for my problems and for my piece of mind.
You requested the extended Warranty? Need to Know I would like to have this also. Mine in the shop Since June 29.

Update on the ongoing saga of the dreaded CEL & ESS light (been in the shop 3 times). I just picked up my JT yesterday after a complete engine replacement, as requested by FCA engineers. Back out of my drive this morning and low and behold the ESS light returns. I Left a message with the dealership service department. For those keeping track, I've had the JT for 77 days and it's been in the shop for 58 of those days. Going through the buy back process, but it's long, tedious and not for the faint of heart. Thinking I'll just continue to drive until the buy back process completes.

When my Gladiator was in the shop i requested a buy back from Chrysler and they started a case, they called and asked what i wanted to do, so since my truck was fixed i said i just wanted an extended warranty for a piece of mind and they said no problem and gave me the premium package for free. They would have bought the truck back but i don't see any reason now that it's fixed. Im happy with the warranty...

That’s what I would do. What a crazy saga. Sorry you have to go through all of this.

Tapping Out!!! I sold mine JT to a dealership. I have a low threshold for problematic vehicles. You buy a new vehicle for peace of mind. It really bothers me to be making a payment on a new vehicle while it is sitting at a dealership service center and you are driving your old truck you bought to replace the JT. So many awesome and knowledgeable people on this site and I have appreciated being a part of it……Thanks All

Hi,
I have sent you my info and you said you would have a representative contact me. That was 10 days ago.
I sent you a message on day 4 to remind you that I had not heard from anyone. It looks like you are very responsive when an issue is reported but then you drop the ball.
When can I expect a call?

Jeepdontcare is a joke..I've had me ongoing case escalated to two different case managers..my Gladiator been at the dealership since june 4th and a go weeks at a time without being contacted. Don't expect any help from them. Unfortunately we are on our own with this issue. Research your state's lemon law.

Had the new software update on the third visit and literally in a short amount of mileage, got both the ESS and the CEL lights AGAIN. I will contact FCA and ask them to buy it back now. I am done. This will be the 4th time I've dropped it off so if they want to wait until after they can't fix it again on the 4th try then so be it. Of course no way in heck I will want an entirely new engine installed to "solve" the problem. Nor do I want a replacement Gladiator. I'll wait a few years and continue to monitor this forum to see if the problem persists before considering another Gladiator.

Tapping out as well. Finalizing buyback and walking away. Not the new vehicle experience I was anticipating. Great people on the site and wish all the best.

Add mine to the list. Built 10/19. Auto shutoff Friday. Check engine and auto shutoff next time driven. At dealer now. Gave me a new Grand Cherokee to drive. Auto start stop not available light on it every time you crank it up. Guess they didn’t notice the warning light. Let the saga commence.
