So I finally got around to unpacking the various manuals, brochures and advertisements with my second Gladiator and look what I came across. My first Glad didn’t include this in the paperwork. I knew they were supposed to but here it is. Ironic.

Had the P0300 code come on once for me (so far) around 3 weeks ago. Cleared it with my reader but it still showed under permanent codes which was "good" since the dealer could see it then. Brought it in and they looked at it (plus a few other things I had booked it for) and hasn't been back since. Had around 1200km on it when it happened, now around 1900km on it.
I still get the Auto Start/Stop errors fairly often but if that's all I get I can live with that!

Today my CEL has gone off, still going to the dealer on Wednesday next week.

I have had numerous ESS lights come on with a pending P0300 since the update but it never set off the CEL until today. Calling this morning.

Is anyone just driving with the CEL on and seeing what happens? My JT doesn't seem to be having any actual misfires. It runs just fine with and without the CEL. My CEL has, to date, come on and turned off on its own 4 out of the 5 times it's thrown the P0300 code. The dealer cleared the code the second time it came on and of course they couldn't find anything wrong. I finally have an appointment on 8/8 to replace my backup camera. I'll have them look for evidence of misfiring then. Just curious to see if anyone was else was riding it out, either on purpose or due to circumstance?
I started this post and have been riding out & enjoying my JT since the last time it was in the dealer at 700 miles. I still get the occasional A! Light but have not had the CEL light since. I now have 7200 miles on it and it has seemed to fix itself. Yes I feel an occasional rough idle at some start up but I'm not willing to have my vehicle sit at the dealer for months without a fix. If the issue is not resolved by FCA before my 3/36k warranty is up then I will push the issue hard. But for now i have noticed almost nothing since 700 ish miles. I have even had an increase in mileage from 14mpg to almost 17mpg at times.
Read my post on this thread.. if you have no noticable symptoms then drive it and keep it out of the shop where they have no clue how to fix it. Hell it might just resolve itself over time like mine has.
Anyone here have more than 7500 miles and still having the CEL & A! Light?

I have been driving loaner Gladiator for a month and can tell you that if your not getting 18 - 21 mph highway the engine is not performing correctly. The loaner is getting the correct mileage and is responsive. My other Gladiators had terrible mpg and no acceleration.

Yeah-I used to do a lot of my own automotive work back in the day before there were “technicians.” I know what bad performance feels like and I swear the first day or so of pulling Glad #1 into the driveway I knew something didn’t sound right. I started googling the Pentastar to see if they were supposed to make that top left side (passenger side) engine noise. Lots of clicking and popping and ticking up there. I couldn’t find anything then at 800 miles-my first dreaded CEL and ESS. I honestly can’t find any rhyme or reason to the gas mileage or voltage output that told me something was wrong. I’ve read both as hints something else is going on with the engine and I’ve been monitoring both on Glad #2. I would get the CEL-ESS combo regardless of having good gas mileage or anywhere from 12.5 to 14.0 volts output registering on the dash. I would agree however, that generally speaking if you have bad gas mileage and you’re running rough (I experienced poor acceleration, the engine sputtering and the hood felt like it would vibrate off it’s mounts) you have a problem. When I experienced the above conditions at their worst is when the CEL would actually flash on and off then go back solid with the chime sound. That happened maybe twice out of the 4 CELs and maybe 2 dozen ESS malfunction lights I received. I just turned over about 300 miles on Glad #2 this weekend. We’ll see if she holds up. I’m taking the family out of town this weekend and we will put more miles on and see how it goes. Since my first Glad got to 800 before the CELs started I’m still a little distrusting of #2. I know some on this forum have gotten to 4000 miles before having their first CEL-ESS combo. Good luck to you all.

As inexpensive as these engines are I am a bit surprised FCA is not just swapping them out. Ford has been swapping out the 5L the 5.2L and the 3.6 Ecoboost. Most for oil consumption and some for timing and variable cam issues. If it is making excessive top end noise that would seem to be a pretty easy call and there seems to be some substantiated evidence later build motors are better. I say this but I remember the dealership trying to rebuild the the trans on my 2500 that literally spit parts all over the road at 8k miles. My local dealership stepped up and got me a new rig.

I dunno-seems to me that-if I have malfunction indicator lamps with a brand new vehicle in less than 1000 miles and still have any of them at 7500 miles then something’s still not right. I don’t want to drive that vehicle but each person has to make that decision according to their values and what works for them. I figured the Glad should be a rough, tough, “Trail Rated” vehicle that could withstand some punishing use. I don’t want to have to worry about whether it will start up in my suburban driveway and make it to the stop sign on my asphalt road.

My first Gladiator had phasers replaced then software update. Dealership resold it and so far no issues. Gladiator 2 had software updates and still has original phasers. Dealership waiting on FCA engineers to complete data analysis. This is day 98 since purchase of Gladiator 1. Have not had the Gladiators for 5 days combined. This is unacceptable.

My wife called the dealership today and told them that the CEL went off and that the code was read and it was the same as last time. They cancelled the appointment and told her not to come in unless it comes on again.

That may be true on a stock gladiator which mine is not.
