Im getting 23.5mpg as per the trip computer and about 700km per fill range.
thats with remote starts, cold weather, winter diesel and at 2500ft.
to compare I was getting 17.5mpg with my gas 3.6 doing the same driving. Yes, over 5 mpg better.

Diesel is the way to go with the Jeep, if ya want a gas burner, why are ya looking at a Jeep? I'd be looking at a Chevy Trail Boss, Raptor, something that will get up and go. If ya going to be towing heavy, go full size. If ya in for light to medium loads and fun, jeep with diesel is an excellent choice.

I've a Sport S diesel and with the 245 tires I was getting up the 31 mpg as long as I was 55 mph and less. Highway at 70, about 27 mpg. Running 285's now, killed mileage by 4 mpg and did hurt the power a bit too.

As stated in earlier posts, maintenance and upkeep is more and the 3rd generation EEK-O-Diesel is still on the proving grounds, gotta buy 2.5 gallons DEF about every 6 miles, the oil filter is outrageous in price, special grade oil and about 9 quarts.

And I'd do it all over again.

So I put the deposit down on the vehicle in St. Louis. It's by far the best deal I've found as there are very few around 10-15 Sarge Rubicon Diesels in the entire nation. MSRP is 56780 and they have a 1500 dealer discount plus 500 discount. No markups on the vehicle at all. Getting the back sprayed for an additional 550. Out the door I'll be at 50840. Will need to get tires/rims, Mopar lift, and front bumper again. I got a refundable flight for Thursday morning. Only problem is I have a crazy work schedule this week and not a lot of time to strip my current Jeep of the things I can take off. Plus I gotta find time to drive the vehicle an hour away to the dealer that agreed to buy it outright from me for 53500. Which I'm always nervous about that they won't honor it. Plus, our heater stopped working in our new house so getting the heater and A/C replaced this week which will limit my time even more. All in all I gotta decide by tomorrow. I know I will love the diesel and will fit perfectly but then a part of me is it worth the extra time and effort ha ha.

Ha ha you don't want to know. 50 bucks for registration for 1 year. Then I think it's around 130 for three years.

Ya, NM is really a hidden gem. It's not perfect by any means but houses are affordable and lots of awesome outdoor activities. Another great perk Airport parking overnight is literally 4 dollars a day. Plus you can stroll into the Airport 45mins before your flight leaves and have plenty of time to relax.

My brother lives in Taos, NM and works at a ski resort. He sends me pictures all the time and it’s just flat out gorgeous there. I need to get a trip up there one of these days.

Ya Taos is amazing area. Red River is one of my Favorites. Super fun Jeep trail there too that leads to Goose Lake.

So I have another opportunity to upgrade my gladiator. I have a 21 Rubicon with 37s, Mopar lift, and bumper with 14000 miles. Dealer wants to buy it for 53500 so I can upgrade to a diesel. I will lose the lift, tires, and bumpers but can swap over my winch and bed rack. It’s approx 15 dollars more a month and will have a new diesel. Yes I will have to do a lift again but will probably do 35s because moving out of town I need the mpg back a little and the range. So the is diesel worth it?? The range, power, and slightly better mpg sound great but the diesel maitance and prices are all over the place. I’m leaning towards doing it what do you guys think? Happy with your diesel??
I have a Rub diesel with 11k miles. I would definitely recommend it. TQ on acceleration will bring a grin to the driver.
