My 21 has it.

More than likely they did it for the same reason they left off the motor covers on the 3.6: to save a few bucks. So itās confirmed, they stopped installing these in 2023. Iām beginning to think someone at the factory forgot to include these on the 2023 assembly line. Lets see if the 2024s have them.
The difference is, that engine cover has no operational significance. Its simply just for asthetics.More than likely they did it for the same reason they left off the motor covers on the 3.6: to save a few bucks.

This is interesting because the Tacoma tailgates are made to be removed although you have to disconnect the wiring.Thatās what I did. It was more so that I stop accidentally pulling the tailgate out of that cam lock hinge.
My 2024 does not, built 1/28/24Just looked and I do indeed have that do-hicky on my passenger side tailgate.

My 24 Ram did not come with one and it only has 5k miles and pulls out when I open the tailgate. I'm going to find something because not really wanting to use a hose clamp. The tailgate hinge lock, however does have an operational purpose. For those of you without it, try opening the tailgate with an upward motion. Youāll find that the tailgate will lift right off the hinge, since nothing is holding it in. A safety hazard? Perhaps a recall is in order?
It must be purposeful since my 2024 JTR built 1/28/24 does not have it.Huh. So itās an assembly mistake? Wouldnāt Jeep replace the part if missing?
Yeah like the clutch recall. Letās all start holding our breath now.The difference is, that engine cover has no operational significance. Its simply just for asthetics.

Nope. 1/28/24. Not there. So itās confirmed, they stopped installing these in 2023. Iām beginning to think someone at the factory forgot to include these on the 2023 assembly line. Lets see if the 2024s have them.
The normal operation of the tailgate won't cause any problems. The tailgate hinge lock, however does have an operational purpose. Besides my Gladiator and an old 81 Toyota, I've never owned a pickup that the tailgate didn't just lift off, so to speak. That would include several Dodge Rams and Chevy full sizes. The difference is, that engine cover has no operational significance. Its simply just for asthetics.

My 2022 model built Dec ā21 has it, and is my first truck to ever have a tailgate hinge lock. Every truck Iāve owned starting since 1974 dodges have had tailgates that just lift off. I always thought it was a pretty nifty feature!
